Ranting about people on myLot

So you're on here ranting about somebody who has ticked you off. They aren't a member here and aren't really likely to come here and see what you posted. Do you like the 'anonymity'? Or do you really wish they could see your post and what all your friends here said about them? Would you ever anonymously send them a link? Or is getting it out of your system and hearing everybody's feedback good enough for you?

Of course I like the anonymity! I admit to starting discussions about a few certain friends who drive me up the wall. I know if they knew I spewed their business to others, they would kill me ! For me, I think it's more that I feel relieved that others would feel the same as I do . . . although I do appreciate comments from the opposing side (teaches me the flip side of looking at the situation - well, sometimes). Yah, I guess it feels good to vent on myLot and hear the feedback . . . that's good enough for me - as far as confirming my thoughts about it all. I wouldn't send the friend a link . . . only because it'd be a bunch of strangers stating their opinions - when they've only heard my version of the story. Oh, but it's sure tempting . . .

High ten to that! I doubt any of my friends even know what myLot is . . . I haven't told anyone except my hubby about my myLot dabblings. I'm not inviting anyone here . . . it's like my own private space to vent, ya know??!

I would have to take the high road for this. I can't be bothered on whom have upset me and I prefer to concentrate or channel my energy to something positive. Although if sometimes things get on my nerves, it will be great to rant for a bit.. so if that ever happens, I'd say anonymity would be the best answer and no, I won't send links..

I'd probably be pretty embarrassed if certain people saw certain things!

I have only ranted twice about someone and in one case they left (not because of me) and in the other they are now a good friend. I sometimes wonder why people put up with me. But I am perfect of course!

Writing about things, and even talking about them, rarely ever make me feel better. I guess I hold a grudge pretty well, and anger seems to stay with me a long time... I should probably work on that. I've never actually thought of wishing that someone could read my post. Actually if I'm upset with someone, I'd rather they not realize that they've gotten to me so bad that I have to rant and rave about them. It makes me feel like I've let them win, and I'd rather do that privately. Although, when I was having trouble with my in laws it would have been nice if they could have seen what I said about them, and what others thought of the situation too. I actually had been daydreaming about getting them on the Dr. Phil show. I was certain he would have laid into them like there was no tomorrow!!

I live in constant fear of someone I know coming here and recognising me and reading all the juicy stuff I've written about myself and others. Is there a word that describes me...no, don't tell me, I don't think I want to know.

I don't like it...I love it! LOL I don't do it very often and when I do it is just to get it out of my system. I sure as hell wouldn't want someone to know it was me that was ranting about them because with my luck it might just backfire on me. LOL Happy mylotting! PS So how would we know that these people aren't a member anyway? They could be in an anonymous state, after all...

hi dawnald oh when I do it I realize they will not see it so I guess its more a safety outlet rather than go punch someone in the gut because you are upset with them. I would just use mylot as a safety outlet and let it go at that, as I would have gotten it out of my system and would be over it.That would be plenty for me, as my mads never last long.

Oh, you know what, I had never really thought about sending them a link so that they could see what other people thought about them. Hmmm ... now you really have me thinking. I would really love to send them a link and let them know! Unfortunately, I think it would be a useless effort, since it will never change the way they act, so I guess that hearing other people's feedback will just have to be enough for me.

I'd have to really, really dislike somebody to do the anonymous link thing. And it would be more for my benefit than theirs, I think.

Hey ma'am, Sounds like someone has angered you. I think myLot is a online community of friends. It was meant to share the feelings of each other, not for mud-slinging. Why some people can't stay as a good fellow. Are they possessed with the Devil? May Allah give them good motives. Have a nice day.

Ranting is very important, without it no one could achieve anything or improve it. Force of voice is said not to be kind. But it helps if someone is having trouble with something

The anonymity is what's appealing to me. It gives me a chance to just let it all out without having to worry about any repercussion. I'm not a big venter, but when I need to I do it here :)

my in laws drive me up the wall and have done so for over 40 years, so i think at long last, i should be able to rant off about them, they dont go on line as far as i am aware. but I am not bothered if they did read any thing i have to say about them. i am just letting off steam. probably they feel the same about me, and possibly they would welcome the opportunity to have a good old moan about me !!

Mine are annoying and intrusive, but don't totally drive me up the wall. Sometimes they try to be 'helpful', but are really just pushing something off on me that I don't want. Other times, they really are helpful and it's appreciated. So I have the occasional mini rant about them, but nothing huge.

I absolutely love the anonymity that we are able to have on mylot. There are a lot of times that people in my life start to get on my nerves and I have found that it is much safer for me to be able to voice my concerns on here than it is to talk to people that I know in my life because the people with whom I'm associated with are all pretty close to each other and because of that, I don't feel like I am able to talk to any of my friends about another friend when they are getting to me because of the fact that word does have a tendency to get around.

Hey Dawn, I am not through with my ranting as yet! :) I am looking at my posts here as evidence I leave - should anything happen to me, like possible list of suspects for Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot, or Miss Marple. :) Ok - honestly - I dont give a d**n. My rants are about people whose sins have already been discussed and exposed in front of them and in front of others - in real life. I am just letting others realize instead of remaining under illusions till it is too late. In my life, I bottled up and so suffered. I dont want others who are going through something like me to bottle up and lose precious years of their life. As to evidence, yes, why not? :) It is a good evidence. :)

with nearly 200,000 mylotter, you can expect the best, the worst, and all types of responses and comments. as they say, you cannot please everybody. also, not all can really give you what you expect. and in any discussion, whether eyeball to eyeball or through a site, a modicum of respect is necessary. otherwise, the discussion will turn out into an argument, which a casual discussion meant to elicit a personal response, is not. at mylot, you can still use discretion and practice the usual process... happy mylotting, dawnald.

i guess for this person its better to just type the hurtful words than say it. and he won't be hurting anyone physically. we have our own ways of dealing with stress, anger and anxiety and i think ranting in My Lot and just asking for advices from friends here with unbiased opinion seem pretty okay to me. of course as long as its not really that personal and you wouldn't dish out too much info about this person..
