Damned if you do, and damned if you do not. |

| As an elder user here, I have seen new comers say a lot of times we should help them learn the ropes. Okay so what do you people do when you do give advice about reading the rules, the guideline, the TOs and qs and as , and you get told you are scolding and bossy and an old grandma we must respect blah blah. would you continue trying to help knowing a lot of newcomers are just going to get mad at you? I am ready to forget to help anyone here as some say none of your business. maybe they are right, I no longer know. Maybe I am just a bossy elderly I will not say old woman but I have reached the end of my rope. your take? | | | | | |

| | I am not new to MyLot although I am back after being away for some time kind of...LOL. I do remember when I first started at MyLot & I was so confused as to what to do & what this site was all about. I tried reading the guidelines & rules, but there was so much to read...LOL. For me it was just easier asking someone what it was that I needed to know. Now I'm thinking that thats how other newcomers feel. So if they want to know something about MyLot I don't see anything wrong with taking a few minutes of my time to answer them. Fellow members did it for me so I return the favor. | | | | | | |

| | hi sylviapet73 yes but now we so often when we give advice we are doing it in a discussion that is going to be deleted as it broke the rules about questions that are already in the questions and answers, and do you like to get told you are just bossy and obnoxious if you suggest that the best way to avoid getting your discussions deleted is to learn the rules and read the guidelines, after all this is there for all to read. I read it so am concerned why others cannot read it too. I did not have to ask older people as I had learned what not to do. i have helped but I have feelings too just like anyone else here. insult me and I will not feel like helping anyone. | | | |

| | hi gabs this person was so insulting, and calling me an old grandma did not help.thats a tender spot for me as I have no grandchildren and would love to have had some. So its not so wrong of me to just quit offering any help. You are right it really is not worth the hassle, I have enough on my plate right now. I have a allergic reaction to something that has my left leg all swollen and bumpy, and of all things my doctor put me on steroids which now shoots my blood sugar up to 300 which makes me feel really lousy.thanks love you too hugs. | | | |

| | In a case like the one you described, I would set them free. Helping them is no longer an option, as far as I am concerned. If they are so ungaretful, I have no sympathy at all | | | | | | |

| | I would say either leave them to their own devices or plain ignore their requests for help. Now, if one of them says they've looked in the guidelines for an answer but can't find it, then that's different. I know there are people who helped me when I first got here. I looked at the guidelines and would look again if someone said something was there, but sometimes I just didn't find the answer. I was glad there were people willing to help in those cases. Yeah, if they delete the discussion, we lose points, but if it gets someone up and running, it's not a big loss AND it's not like we're doing that as our major contribution to participation, right? Have a Happy Easter, tomorrow, Patsy! I hope you get to see Robbie. | | | | | | |

| | thanks jerzgirl right not worth it and I have better things to do. ah fish since Yesterday was Good Friday I was hoping for fish, ugh got meatloaf instead.odd too as usually they serve fish on Friday for there are a lot of catholics here, I am not one but there are a lot, I just prefer fish over other meats at times. | | | |

| | I'm surprised, too, that they wouldn't at least have a vegetarian option, even if not fish for those swearing off meats on Fridays. Interesting. Were there complaints? Understandable, if so. It's not so hard to make a tuna casserole or a veggie lasagna or even mac-n-cheese in respect of the good number of people who abide by that (including those who aren't Catholic who like the idea and follow it for Lent). | | | |

| | hi jerzgirl yes they do have mac and cheese on other days, and for me I can always go for mac an cheese myself. No people just give up here and go with the flow,oh we do complain on residents meeting days, but not a whole lot gets changed. Happy Easter. | | | |

| | They are the ones that are a scam. They are a scam because they don't want to be mature enough to handle advice from others. They get mad when someone tells them something for their own good. Of course they are not going to make any money when they don't follow the rules correctly. That is their problem not no one else's. | | | |

| | hi fwidman I think he was looking in my profile and sought to anger and humilate me by focussing on my age and how he or she has to respect me otherwise the way he or she worded they would have gave me a poke on t he nose or something. I no longer care, over and done with, moving on so to speak. I never worry about the age of other users really. | | | |

| | Yeah if people are rude I just Do not respond to them anymore. It is not worth the aggravation. I also know sometimes you get caught up in conversation and people take things personally at times when they should just read what is being said instead of reading into what is being said.. Take care! | | | |

| | Hi Hatley we have a saying in Maltese that we should take heed of an advice given by the elderly. I think that elderly people are full of wisdom because they have more experience than us, they have faced several things that perhaps we are going to face later on in life. Regarding mylot you ll find all sorts of newbies. Some are respectful and are willing to learn, others are not. I don't think you should take it personally, just move on if one is not willing to learn. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Hatley! Sounds like a no-win situation, doesn't it? I guess that I'm lucky in that no one is asking me any of these sorts of questions, otherwise I'd probably feel as frustrated at you. Mostly I would tell them the same things you do, and further explaining that it's really in their best interest to read the rules themselves. Otherwise they may find themselves in the unfortunate position of doing something incorrectly, based on some one else's interpretations (which may be very wrong), and having discussions deleted or worse, having their accounts closed. In telling new members to read regulations you are doing them the best favor you can. If they choose to be ungrateful, it's their problem and no one else's. The truth is, however unkind it sounds, is that if they can't read, what makes them think they can (or should) write? | | | | | | |
