Do You Pray For People You Work With?

and let them know you are praying for them, or do you Pray for them in Secret? Where I work there have been a lot of problems going on with people. It seems like since I was in the hospital back in June, there have been more people in the hospital this yr. where I work since then than in the history of the whole 5 1/2 yrs. almost that I have worked there. (Sure 2 of the people who once gave me problems are only going in for Surgery and might have to spend a day or two in the hospital as well,) but what about the other 3 who have since been in a hospital as well? Quite interesting since June, there have been 6 employees that have been in the hospital and most of us have had to have surgery of some sort as well. It has all been for different things, but a little interesting as well. Unfortunately none of this has been the same thing for each person to be blamed on the job, but it is quite interesting. But I have let those who are going in for surgery tomorrow, and Monday that I have put them on Prayer lists, and hoping somehow all of this can get over with so 2012 can come and leave all of these medical problems behind. But if anyone else would like to Pray, right now there is Frank who is in the hospital with a Bleeding Ulcer, Marilyn who is going in for surgery for female issues, and then Sheila who had a minor stroke in September, is going in for surgery to fix something to do with the nerves in her neck. Plus I still need Prayer as my leg is not completely healed, and not sure if it is stemming from the place I work in still or something just going on preventing my leg to completely heal like it should. ~~TINA~~

the people I work with now are on the internet, I pray for them and I don't always let them know, some people don't believe in prayer so I just pray silently.

I totally agree that people who are Prayed for are often the ones who will fare the Best. There are many times when I have put people from my job, etc. on Prayer lists and only let them know afterwards someone had been praying. They may not realize right away, but usually that is why they are tending to recover so fast. It does really never Hurt to pray.

Same here. In Squidoo we have a group called RocketMoms and we had a private Ning group where we talked about everything. That meant we also shared prayer requests and did pray for each other. The powers that be closed the Ning group and put our groups on the regular Squidoo domain in a WordPress format, and it hasn't been the same since. Now we started a private Facebook group to try to get back together again. I pray for a lot of people I don't know, including whomever is in the ambulance I hear go by and their families, and those the fire engines are speeding to help. I read a study recently that showed people who are prayed for, even if they don't know they are being prayed for, have less complications after surgery and shorter recovery times than those who aren't prayed for. The doctors who say the study, and in some cases participated in it, have no scientific explanation for the results.

I have always made it a habit to pray for the people I work with and work for. I also pray for people I meet at town or online. I pray for all sorts of people all day long! One time we had 3 really big things happen in like one day at our school. A girl fell and broke her arm, the school caught on fire and some guy drove his wheelchair off the patio. I asked the principal if we could start a prayer group of teachers in the mornings. We met for the rest of that year and prayed every morning for the safety of our students and faculty!

Wow!! This would be a Good thing if their could be more Teachers who would take the time to do something like this. I know many times it can be a scary thing to let others know you Pray, and ask to Pray for someone never knowing what they will think. But I personally think that when you Pray for someone things do happen and hope they will take time to realize how great our God is as well.

Yes, I do. I'm fortunate with one client in that they go so far as to take prayer requests at our weekly conference, although that's not the only time I pray for them. As to whether I let them know, it depends on the circumstances. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I've also received prayer from them. You can tell when people really pray for you.

I agree that we may never be thanked, but that's not the reason I pray. I pray so that God will move in their lives. When He does that, I may never know when or how, but sometimes it's for something personal and none of my business. I just know to pray for them.

Personally that is True. You can tell when a person is really praying for you. It is so important many times to pray for people, as you never know what will become of it unless you do. I know sometimes there will not be the Thanks, etc. until one day looking back they will be Glad that someone was praying and took time enough to care, and then you might receive your Thanks.

Thanks for all the Prayers my friend. I know that even though many of them have not realized it, some of the Good things that are happening are due to everyone's prayers. I feel many times even where we ourselves are sometimes lacking people who are praying for us even when we do not know them are what helps our Faith grow stronger for sure.

Typically the people that I pray for do not know I'm praying for them. Sometimes if they ask for prayers then I tell them that I will keep them in my prayers, but if I see something going on (esp at work) that I think needs remedied, then I keep those people and that situation in my daily prayers.

This is an interesting way to look at things. Especially when many times I know there have been small issues I have prayed about and kept secret and then started to see things turn better as well. Then other times people have requested prayer and I will let them know I am doing so, or can I place them on the Church prayer list, etc. as well. What I enjoy is when someone who knows I have been Praying for them and their situation comes up to me and Thanks me, and asks if I can continue as they are really appreciating what is happening to them right now.

Well, most of my Health issues all stem into being Diabetic for the most part, even though I think the Healing or not wanting to heal issue stems from health issues when I was growing up as well. I did have minor surgery on one of the veins on my leg that was supposed to help the Blood flow, but since the leg is at a stand still in healing not sure it completely worked as well. But I know God is in control and we all keep on Praying, as well as for the many I work for and believe in miracles to come.

Hi Tina...at the risk of sounding frivolous, it sounds like you should have been praying for these people before you all became in need of surgery. Personally, I don't believe in prayer in this regard. The illness or injuries are a result of people's incorrect life choices (and maybe just bad luck) or it is in God's plan and it is just meant to be that way. He loves us all the same, each individual, so I don't see why he would heal some and not others. I don't see how anyone is more special or more deserving to be healed than someone else. It's just a different perspective I guess.

I can understand where you are coming from in a lot of ways, but at the same time many times we are not in control of everything that happens, and there will be situations beyond our control when we need Prayer and prayer can help change things. No we'll never know why some are healed quickly and others it takes time but no matter what I feel Prayer is something that can always help each other out.

Dear friend, At times when I evaluate my self I feel lucky and blessed from God who gave me at least what I have now. But I could there are lots of people undergoing various pains. As in your dicussion too there it could be seen. I feel I could do something for them within my limitations. Moreover I hope God is one who could do more than me and who could do mircales that is most needed in many painful life. I thank God for giving me those better side of my life and pray to God to keep others well and a peaceful world....Yes, I do pray for others...

Yes, I think many times with all the things God allows us to go thru, it helps us to be able to help others, as well as in time ourselves as well. And being able to accept people praying for us allows us a chance to recognize more how Great god is and that others really care as well.

I prayed for someone who was harassing me. I also kept being nicer and nicer to her until she couldn't stand it any more.

Yes, I have prayed for situations when someone is really giving me a hard time and usually either they straighten up and start being nicer to me or something happens and next thing they know they are without a job. It just always seems to be that when you have an urgent situation in ones life just remembering to Pray can really make everything so worth while.

hmmm.. i have never really prayed for them for something specific. i remember that i prayed for them when they went abroad to travel. i prayed for their safety. what's happening with your colleagues is unfortunate. i believe in the power of prayers. i am happy that you are soliciting and sharing about this discussion.

Yes, it does seem sometimes that in general there are many times when you pray for someone or people that is not necessarily specific but you find yourself praying. Like when they are traveling, or something, but to be able to go into corporate prayer for someone for Healing and good things to come in their life it is a blessing for sure.

I guess you would say I'm one of those that prays in secret. Not to say that I don't believe in God or anything like that, but I also won't say that I do much praying of any kind. I do keep people in my thoughts and in a way I guess that can be considered to be prayer, but is it a prayer if you don't call it by that name? That is something I never really thought about. Even though I was brought up Catholic and attended church every Sunday, all that has a lot less meaning for me that just going out and serving people in some way. That also leads me to wonder if the reike that my friend practices is similar to prayer in that she can "send reike" to someone who is sick and it sometimes helps them feel better. I guess it doesn't matter too much...as long as it works! Have a great week!!!

Yes I feel that keeping someone in your thoughts is the same thing in a lot of ways like prayer as many times you will be constantly thinking about someone and rejoice with them when things get better.

No I don't and I don't pray for anyone. I can't stand people who say they will pray for you and see that as the best kind of help there is. Since I don't believe in god I would find it hypocryte too to start praying in times of need. Which so many people do. I can send them my blessings and can offer my help but not more (and my help is there in many ways incl. healing)

Well, I do try to help someone when I can, but a lot of times all I can do is offer Prayer and advice, and then hope for the Best from there. If I am able to do more I will try and do more, but I do believe strongly in the power of prayer. and know it has gotten me where I am at today. It may take a while as I feel everything does happen for a reason, but in time it will help explain itself as well.

I've forgotten how to pray, I haven't done since elementary school. I still believe there's something big out there and my faith is intact, but I've found it hard to stick to religion. Good luck to all who are in pain.

Well, I have known many people in my lifetime that if you admit that you are Praying for them, they would be like "Why? What have I done to deserve this?" Or the ones who will later come to you with Prayer requests, or thank you because you have been Praying. Personally a prayer can change any situation so it never does hurt to Pray.

Hello Tina. Considering that most of my activity is with or for NGO's like WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) SaveTheFrogs, BigCatRescue or The Snow Leopard trust, you can be SURE that they all have all my wishes and prayers for wellness as I really appreciate their work.

I don't really tell people at work that I would pray for them. In fact, aside from here in myLot where everything is a bit anonymous, I don't let people know that I pray for them. I do get 'touched' when I see someone is having a hardtime in their life, and so when I get a quiet moment, I say something about them when I have my 'conversations' with my maker.

Yes, there are a lot of times I have prayed for someone just because I know they are going thru a rough time, and have never said anything to them, and then there are those I have let them know. I enjoy seeing much success when I know I have been Praying and Good things happen.

Surely I will pray for all my friends to stay good and healthy.(^^) I used to pray for others but I don't let them know . It is because I do it sincerely and I don't asked anything as a reply. For me a pray is much more valuable than a real gift or present. With a pray a body and soul will healed and we get strength from it. For anything happen it is to god we turn to.(^^)

Some great comments here, and very true. When others are Praying things happen. Even if you choose to keep quiet, which many times could be best, people know it. It is just up to them how they will receive and respond.
