I told you so

Do you ever get to say "I told you so"? Well Hubby and I both got to say that this morning. The first time we saw one of those cruse ships that rise so far above the water level we both said if any thing upsets the balance of that ship it's going to turn over. And this morning when we heard the news, one of those ships had. It looks like few have been hurt, though 70 are still missing, but the news said only 3 dead. Of course all that will change, but we pray for the better. Does this mean these ships will be banned? Or will they study it and find a way to make them safer. Is this a repeat of the Titanic? Only time will tell.

You know, there is a part of me that would really like to go on a cruise, but when something like this happens, it really makes me reevaluate my desire to take a cruise. With that said, there have been a few times in my life that I've been able to say "I told you so." Most of the time for me the times when I have the opportunity to say it have to do with something the kids are doing and the repercussions for those things.

That is when I get to say it the most often, but I don't, I keep my silence with children and most adults also. But I do smile a bit.

Yes, I actually hear it from a lot of people. The last time I heard it from my boyfriend when he said it that I am always doing things my way and I keep on failing. He said that because I didn't listen to his advises. So when I failed, he said that.

That is mean of him. I used this as a catch phase only for the discussion. I never say this to anyone, I know they feel badly enough if things don't work out well.

I really don't like doing this, but sometimes it feels great to say I told you so - especially when the person was adamant about being right or disagreeing with you (and then it turns out that YOU'RE right lol).

I guess this will change the cruise industry. Even if this was just brought about by some mistake, or some carelessness considering that they have such high tech equipment, it will definitely affect the sales of all cruise ship operators. Which in turn would make for new safety precautions to be implemented. Hopefully not a repeat of the Titanic.

All in all, there were not that many cruise ships that sank. If you look at how many actually are on the water. Just like planes. The difference is, with planes, they are up in the air and if they malfunction, it goes down. At least with a ship, it takes hours and sometimes days to sink. I think you stand a better chance with a cruise ship.

Well, my dear Mum dragged me along on six cruises, on five different medium-sized ships. Although I was horribly seasick at least once per sailing, I never felt in any danger of capsizing even though we were caught in several force 7 gales! I'm sure there is an optimum size for these huge floating cities. If there isn't, there certainly should be from now on.

That is so sad.....and I bet so scary. I have only been on one cruise and I would have been terrified if something like that happened....And just recently I got to say I Told you so...but not happy to be saying it either!

Thank goodness the ship I was on was very wide compared to high. In Alaska the water is very cold. We'd never make it.

I saw that yesterday! I also saw they arrested the captain! It was terrible! I don't think they will ban the ships but I could be wrong. People have turned to this alternative as a means for vacation on a huge scale. It has become almost as affordable as any thing else they could plan out of state. It sure will make me think twice before choosing that route though. I have always been subtle with my "I told you sos" I usually just give a look that says it.

I've been on two cruise ships & nothing like this has ever happened to me, but just like airplanes, cars, trains, & any other form of transportation, that's not saying that it never could. Nothing is made so well that something like this couldn't happen. Look at the Titanic. They swore that it was the unsinkable ship, the ship of dreams....etc. etc. Well that unsinkable ship turned out to be a ship of nightmares. So nothing is full proof. You take a chance whenever you step onto a train, into a car, or onto a cruise ship. Nothing is full proof.

Hi savypat, I didn't know about this news. Hmm.. so I guess it means that if a ship is so high or so big that it rises so far above water, then it is not safe? I don't really understand ships and propellers but honestly I am more comfortable riding ships than airplane. Anyway, I will surely be checking on that news. 70 missing is a big deal! I mean if they are not afloat then it could only mean one thing.. Titanic movie was a big hit but the real-life is something else.

Yes many a times it happens with me..It is the nature of humans who are pretty confident in themselves that what they think, what the do, and what they say is right. ans in many situations out of their experience they proove to be right.Like ima new here abroad and my husband is here for atleast 10 years so i am not so used to the cultutre and other things and i still relate everything or think in the same manner as i used to back home but here its different whenever my husband tells me something and it happens to be true he uses the dialogue" I TOLD YOU".....
