Yes last week when I was cleaning a clients house I accidently shut the cat in the cupboard under the stairs. There are two cats in this house and the client leaves me the key as they both og to work early. The cupboard door under the stairs was open. I hoovered and washed the floor and closed the door! I thought then that I didn't see where the cat had gone, so I just opened the door and the cat was sitting there!! it was a real fluke that I opened the door, otherwise the cat woud have been there until at least 5pm and I clean at 8am!!! A close shave Have you had any close shaves with any of your cats? Please share

Lol!!! Animals can do that to us. Once i had some dogs and was going to leave for a vacation. My mom was to stop over an feed them everyday. I had a piece of fence to block them into the kitchen. After struggling awhile putting the fence in the kitchen door and finally success. My daughter and i turned around to look and the one dog was on the same side as we were. Now i have cats. One day after cooking i sat daown to eat and something was missing. The begging face of Miss Kitty Kat. I called her and she never asnwered. When i opened the frig to get a drink she jumped out. I still cant believe i didnt see her jump in there.

I have not had that happen, but it could. It did not end badly though. You will know to be on your guard against getting it stuck in somewhere.

Everywhere else in the house is free and open and they go where they please, the cupboard door isn't normally open but they must have forgot ot close it when they went in in before leaving for work. But I have learnt and will always check if door is open or not

They're so quick aren't they? I shut mine in the closet almost every time I go to get my coat. He can't resist exploring.

My ex had a cat once that he wasn't supposed to have in this apartment. No animals right. But he had taken pity on this cute cat and took it home anyway. Well one night the cat had climbed up on the fridge and the landlord came over. As he walked into the kitchen the cat lunged and jumped on his back. Not good!

Omg yes! I have closed my cat in a draw several times she has this habbit that if it's open even slightly she some how queezes in and then u see the draw open about 3 - 4 inches so you close it because she crawls right to the back and burrys herself in the cloths so u don't see her she has spent alot of time in that draw and don't even seem to care she has been locked in for hours and does not make a noise at all she just goes to sleep I feel so bad when ever it happens but she seems to enjoy the little draw and the nice dark quiet I still feel bad though

My nabours have also locked my cat in there garage before I was out at night looking for her because she always comes in at night after more then an hour of looking and callingforher u finally heard a meow and took me a while to realize she was locked interest garage I felt bad waking them up to get her out but they collect classic cars and I didn't want her to damage them in there over night or they would have been extremely mad

I've done the same thing with my herd of cats! I have locked Khuay and Dinglebeary in my office several times without knowing that they had snuck in. Willy usually winds up locked in my closet in my bedroom. He loves sneaking in the closet when I am getting a shirt or pair of pants out... I've gotten to the point that I count noses before I leave the house. If there is a cat missing I will check all the places that I have been to make sure that they didn't get locked in an area that would be uncomfortable for them. I lost count of how many times one was missing and I had to start doing the search...and they would be locked in a closet or my office.

I personally don't recall any mishaps like that with any of my cats, but I know how badly I would feel if I had. I feel sorry for the poor animals because they are curious and yet so quiet that it is easy to do that. Most of the time I think their little meows (or sometimes very loud ones) help get them out of a lot of close calls.

I don't have a cat but I work at a stable and deal with cats. Once the cats were out of food and one cat jumped into the feed bin when the food is usually kept while I was not looking. So I closed the top when I was done feeding the horses. Not long after that I head meowing! I opened the feed bin cover and the cat Beethoven, jumped out! After that I always check the feed bin before I close it!

sorry i dont have cats, but i find that story kinda cute, im really glad the poor kitty did get out ok and you found him before you left, that would have made your story go from cute to sad.. so im glad everything turned out as it did.. cats do like to get in lots of spaces they are very curious animals lol .. i would love to have a outside cat, but my dog prbably would give it a hard time .. or even run it off.. she hates cats and im not sure why... but if i had one it would be outside great story again glad the kitty was safely found.. :)

My cat don't have a perfect cupboard or a place to live. He just sleeps inside my home at the corners of my room and I am quite happy to tell you that I didn't shut any of my cats in the cupboard.

You must have missed my "Hectic Monday" discussion, I had a cat give me the slip, right out the door, into a rainy night. I ended up locking everything up except for the screened in porch door that I left ajar and the cat knows that entrance very well. Sure enough, the next morning he was on the porch, waiting to come in for breakfast..lol

Oh my, that was a close save! Good thing you thought to look for the cat! I've accidentally shut my cat in a few closets and the pantry without knowing it. I've discovered her, usually not too much later, when I go back to the closet/pantry or hear her bumping around in there trying to get out. Once though, my Mom accidentally shut the cat in the bathroom while I was out, and then she left herself. When I came back, I called for my cat and was distraught when I couldn't find her at first. I opened the door to the bathroom and out zooms my cat. She went straight to the litter box. We don't know how long she was in there.

Not with cats because I don't have any, but my dog has gone downstairs, and we don't know it, and have shut the door. We either find out when she is not around upstairs (like she usually is) or she'll bark at the door. Now every now and again she has shut herself in the loo; she likes to lay on that tile floor as it is cooler. She gets herself too far to the one side, and when she dreams she pushes her hind legs out, and sometimes she shuts the door by doing that.
