Another use for old cardboard

I wrote recently about never throwing anything away. We have some large pieces of cardboard in our shed which were once packing boxes for large items. Some I’ve used to cut out guitar and saxophone shapes with which to decorate the Music Shack for our concerts. I’ve been thinking that the cardboard I have now could go in the recycling and make a bit more room in the shed. On another subject we’re going to our home town this coming weekend as there will be a sale of my deceased brothers’ implements and tools. We have decided to add a super spreader and a three-point linkage bucket to the sale. We don’t need these any more and it is the sort of sale that would attract people who might be interested in such items. We decided to spray-paint the super spreader and have now used the cardboard to keep the paint off the cement floor outside the workshop. I knew it would come in useful one day.

I recycle as much as i can. I used some cardboard when my house was painted. I placed them under the furniture legs to move all the heavy stuff

That's a good idea. We have moved a lot of heavy furniture using old blankets under the legs then sliding the furniture where we want it to go.

Curious me: what is that super spreader? I love the color.

@JamesHxstatic and JudyEv Isn't that a grand description answer? I love it. Poetic. "revolving plate" grabbed me but I like machines so maybe that's why.

@sallypup and @JudyEv, I wondered about that too, but figured it was something I should already know. I'm glad the question was asked.

The colour is called 'delicious red'. Very appropriate isn't it? 'Super' is short for superphosphate which is spread on the paddocks here to increase their fertility. The super (and any other trace elements you want to spread) is placed in the hopper and falls through onto the revolving plate underneath which spins it out a certain distance over the ground.

My husband recycles cardboard for the same thing, sometimes he's been known to use an old piece of wood if there is no cardboard handy.

I have several old sheets which are used for drop sheets too. They come in very handy to protect floors and lots of other things too.

@JudyEv Absolutely and if you have none you need to go out and buy something. Until I have space enough to keep stuff, I do not throw.

@LadyDuck I usually undo the big boxes and store them flat. They take less room that way.

@Fleura We are selling a lawn edger too but probably won't bother painting it. Our small trailer needs a coat of paint. It's a dull grey at the moment so perhaps delicious red would be a good choice for that.

Yes, it did, and the super spreader looks brand new now with the new coat of paint and might get some good money for it.

Outside, the cardboard was better as it didn't blow away. I always use newspapers on the floor when I'm painting.

That's a really good idea. I use all the cardboard I found for my cat to play with. They get in and out and when it's tear apart I throw ans get another one. Lol.

@BabeSays Our cat liked to get in a box that had a couple of holes in it. Then she would stick her paw through and try to catch your finger. We always used a biro to tease her so that she didn't scratch our fingers. We all enjoyed the game.

They also come in very handy to go on the ground if Vince needs to get in under the tractor or another machine.

It's a good habit of recycling things. As I already told that I don't have enough space at home to keep useless things to use them further.

It did come in handy - When you use newspaper it can be very annoying if it keeps blowing up or away.

I like newspaper when I'm painting walls. If you use old cloth it doesn't fit against the wall as well and it's easier to miss drips on the cloth then tread on them and transfer paint all over the place
