My March Experiment

As you know, in the month of February I have been away a bit. Very distant. I have just not been that into it here on MyLot. I still have managed to get a little bit on the books. As of this writing about $1.82. Nothing to write home about. BUT, I now want to try a little experiment. I will still write during the month of March. But I will save them for publication for April. I will post absolutely NOTHING for the month of March. I will only comment on posts and interact with the posts I comment on, and older posts I have already published. I want to see if I can get to the payout by just doing that discounting whatever I already earned (or will have earned) by the end of February. Do you think I can do it? Can I earn the payout without posting a single thing in March?

The site? Boring? Yes, it has been. I hate to admit it. But it has been. I think this will be a fun little experiment, and honestly it will be HARD to not publish anything in March. But come April, I should have lots to post. April might wind up being my best month ever after this experiment is all said and done.

@porwest Why do you think so? You should know by know that posting earns you nothing. Not a single cent. You only earn if *other members* comment on your posts.

@MALUSE No. I totally get that. And we earn as well by responses we get from comments on other's posts. It's an experiment. We'll see what happens.

There are a few here who only post one or two discussions in a month. @LadyDuck comes to mind.

You are right, I like so much to discuss with the others that I only post a couple of posts a month.

The hard part is finding something interesting to comment on @porwest I've found that commenting on previous threads to be gainful.

@rebelann I tend to scroll through most recent activity and usually can find something in there to read and comment on. But yes, I DO also like to scroll down and read some of the other comments, and sometimes that leads to another 'discussion' thread.

As @allknowing said I only post a couple of discussions a month. Like JJ my monthly earnings are always around 25$ a month.

I'll be very keen to see what happens. My earnings drop dramatically as soon as I stop posting.

That turned out to be my situation as well. I never earn as much as when I post things. Seems counterintuitive to what MyLot says, but then again, posts DO generate more interactions, so maybe that is part of it.

I've been wondering what potentially leads to more earnings - us writing discussions or us participating on other people's discussions... I'd think writing discussions would earn us more because we can receive a lot of interaction on a discussion whereas if we reply to someone else's discussion that doesn't mean a lot of people will respond back to that. I try to write at least one discussion on a given day. Sometimes I write two or three of them. I never reach $5 in one month. Perhaps I am not active enough on other people's stuff and that's why this is happening.

@Clemensau I do not keep track of how many responses or comments I do on a given day. Maybe I should.

Maybe if you try to comment more over everybody else's responses or directly answering the posts

It turned out that, for me, posting is far better. Just works better for whatever reason in my case.

There have been months in past where I have not made any discussion and only comnented and responded to others. But still I managed to reach payout. So I think it is possible.

There are several here saying they do pretty well doing it this way, so it should be interesting to see what the end result winds up being.

@arunima25 It has been my experience that not posting does seem to make my own earnings less. Not sure why that is, but that is what this experiment ultimately told me.

@porwest Yes it happens but having own discussions with good number of responses helps to move the earnings faster.

I just know there are a lot of us here who post very little but still make payout. I just want to see how that fares against doing several posts in a month.

Yes you can do it. I just posted my latest post after several days, or weeks I don't know. Thing is I earn more by commenting on other mylotter's posts. The more I comment, the more I earn. I am so applauding your experiment!

Depends on how active you'll be in interacting and how people interact with you in their posts. The longer the interaction is the more you will get.

@porwest I cannot answer for you. It depends on how much you will be here. I can only answer for me. I do not post my own discussions a lot these days but I do answer when mine pop up and I answers the comments and go into others and I can make enough to earn here.
