I'm Not Feeling It

I watched the inauguration this morning. I won't say it was a waste of my time. Everyone said the right words - unity, reconciliation, restoration. Yet, I'm not feeling it. Instead, I feel like someone died. I know the majority of America is elated right now to have President Biden in the White House. I'm not elated. It's not the fact only a thousand people attended instead of the millions who normally do. It's not the speeches. It's not the dignitaries. It's a feeling that something is terribly wrong and someone needs to fix it before it gets worse. We need to heal our country. A bandaid won't cure the problem. I don't know the cure or even how to go about it. I just hope these next four years aren't our epitaph. Thanks for reading. Please don't bash me for my opinion. The image belongs to me.

You will get no bashing from me Valerie. I have my own issues to deal with right now. I am fine being in my own little world. Hoping for the best. No elation here either.

I am sorry that you have such an empty feeling. Maybe in time you will feel better, your country, and really the rest of the world, has been subjected to so much over the past 4 years. Wounds take time to heal. You just keep being you, that is what the world needs now.

The inauguration didn't feel very presidential at all. I know people are tired of Trump Trump Trump. I've a feeling it won't be long they will saying where is Biden? I know in the end everything will work out just fine. But we still have to walk through a little more fire to get there. Unlike the ones who want to silence any and everyone who disagrees with them I will always respect your opinion, thoughts and feelings. Hugs.

Trump's farewell thing before he departed for Florida was very lively and had upbeat energy. Many people there. The Inauguration didn't feel that way at all. It felt rather gloomy. And not much people present.

Division, this government is in critical condition. No different than during the Civil War, there's no unity in this nation.

I felt a feeling of gloom when I watched the Inauguration. And not many people were in attendance. I think a lot more people attended the farewell of Trump before he left for Florida. Not surprising though, especially since the crowd at Biden's rallies was never huge.

@Namelesss I wonder that too. I bet the mass media won't hate on him like they hated on Trump. But they probably won't report the actual truth.

I don't think many would have attended even if they had been allowed. Everything locked down and barricaded. I've a feeling we won't see much of Biden. Wonder how the media cartel are going to spin the next four years.

@Namelesss The media mob would probably would not know what to do with themselves. No President Trump to poke, pester and pick on. O It will be a well-deserved break for President Trump and his family.

It was very subdued I guess because of covid pandemic and all it brought. The theme centered around memorializing & remember the people passed from covid. At least Trump left a peaceful speech and so did departing First Lady.

I feel much the same way, but maybe for slightly different reasons. When I watched the Trump inauguration speech it was uplifting. It was praising America and its good. It was praising the American people. It was telling the American people that what they voted for was restoring true representation to the people. Biden's speech was gloom and doom. It was despair. It was weakness. It was downtrodden. It pointed to the last YEAR as THE mark of the entire four. It pointed to a place that ONLY existed, and ONLY happened because of the pandemic, and light was cast on only THAT year as a measure of the entire four. I don't know what exactly the next four years is going to look like. All I can do is speculate. BUT, knowing what I know of Biden's past history, knowing what I know of Harris' vision of America, and what was campaigned... None of it is appealing nor does any of it seem to be good for America and is certainly the wrong direction to take the country.

I agree. There wasn't anything uplifting about the speech. Two things went through my mind this morning. You can't let a fox guard the chickens There's a snake in the garden

The whole Inauguration had a very gloomy vibe to it. It didn't fill me with joy, didn't make me feel hopeful for the next 4 years. I wasn't even planning on watching it. I just did out of curiosity. That was a waste of my time. And hardly anyone was there. If thousands were allowed at protests and riots over the summer and fall how come on the most important day in America they didn't allow huge numbers of people? Covid existed back then too.

At times, when we have seen a lot of bad happening around us, lots of negativity, things or events do not excite us. Perhaps the new administration just needs to work quietly and dedicatedly for a better US and in some ways a better world.

No worries. I'm not one with among those canceling you for your freedom of expression. I deliberately didn't watch. I've heard enough of his no-policy campaigns of doom and gloom, 'We're entering a very dark winter' promises. What, of his presidency? Thanks for bravely telling us.
