How do you feel about rice pudding?

I made rice pudding for a mid morning snack or pre lunch dessert. I put dried blueberries and dried cherries in it, and used less sugar. It was delicious and we will have more later. Everyone has posted such yummy foods here I find myself wanting to just go make desserts. However I do not want to do that badly enough to do the dishes, so I am safe from the calories, for now.

We make it too but not sure if it is the same process as stirring it until it gets formed takes hours with the recipe we follow.

No, our recipe is much easier than that. Do you put any special seasoning in it?

@allknowing It sounds delicious, but it is much more work than we do. You use a lot of coconut juice or coconut milk and that would be yummy I am sure. I add spices like cinnamon and ginger and cloves to my pudding.

@GardenGerty We put raisins, jaggery, coconut juice and raw cashew nuts plucked from the tree. We grind the rice that is soaked in coconut juice. Image credit: https://www.ruchikrandhap.com/mani-rice-halwapudding/

It is kind of an old fashioned dish. I am not sure where I learned to make it, as I do not remember my mom making it.

@GardenGerty if your stores sell kozy shack puddings they have a tapioca and rice pudding in small containers for those that have never had it. Not quite as good as homemade but still decent.

As I said in your other post, my son loves rice pudding. He just likes a bit of cinnamon on top. It's a good way to use up extra cooked rice!

I put "pie spice" in mine which is a custom blend I put in apple pies and pumpkin pies. Mostly cinnamon.

I have a lot of keto desserts if like to make one day but I don't like bothering at present. I love rice pudding. I never would have thought to put those other dried fruits into it but I would use stevia rather than sugar. I've not had homemade ride pudding in years.

Hubby needs the calories. Now I need to think of something to put in the oven today to warm us up even more. I will make Swiss chicken later. Maybe I will bake some potatoes for loaded baked potato soup.

Yeah, I like savory foods or Mexican/Italian foods but to me desserts aren't really food @GardenGerty they're treats that cause us to gain a lot of weight ..... I love the Christmas Italian Panettone so last year I bought 4 of them, very big mistake but I'll do that again this year

I never had tapioca until I learned to make it for my first husband. Current hubby dislikes it. He does not like rice very often either.

To be honest, I don't think I ever eat rice pudding. I don't know whether there is similar dish here but with a different name.
