Cleaning the Bird Cage

No, I do not have a bird cage with a live bird inside. This is the name of three shelves I have inside. They are called bird cage shelves, due to the shape. I was cleaning them with Windex earlier. Amazing how many little nooks and crannies where dust can hide. This is one of many places I keep little angels and photos of Dustin, etc. to display in my home. Doing a little spring cleaning today inside. Snapped this photo of one of the shelves.

I laughed when I started reading your headline!!! One time I had 5-6 cages---over 26 birds--I had 4 budgies, 2 cockatoos and 20+ finches---no one told me they were worse then rabbits! I loved them--no problems--easily trained--then the doc said I was having breathing problems due to their 'dander' so I had to get rid of them--still miss them!!

@GreatMartin The blue one looks like a bird that I used to have.

@GreatMartin I wish you could have a couple of your bird buddies. I am allergic to bird dander and dog dander. It's no fun.

I can see why it's called a 'birdcage'. I need to do some dusting soon.

I have never seen bird cage shelves before. It looks really nice. It is different, and I like that.

@rebelann I do better to run it under the faucet and dry it really good. The top comes off.

It's lovely. I'm cleaning, too, helping hubby ready my pan cupboard for next month's move.

@CarolDM I'm trying to get odd sized objects moved. Maybe I'll have room for my ornamental garden birdcage. It reminds me of yours but mine has no shelves and is turquoise. The birdcage itself sits on a stand.

Before i even get to read your discussion, i was staring at the photo and the first thing i saw was Dustin’s photo. This bird cage is a great plant rack too. If i had it i would probably put a trailing pothos in it.

@CarolDM It looks sturdy in the photo. But if it's light it's not ideal at all. It's pretty though.

@toniganzon Thank you for noticing Dustin. He is all around me. Thankfully I took many photos. It is very light, not good for plants. I thought it would be when I bought it. I use my bakers rack for most of my plants. Very pretty profile pic by the way.

@CarolDM Speaking of birds, I thought of you today. A cardinal is building a nest in the bushes right in front of my kitchen pantry window at the front of my house. I have the perfect view to watch the nest, although she immediately sees me peek through the window blinds every time, which spooks her and she flies off. I hope I don't scare her so much that she decides to go build the nest somewhere else. The shrub where she is building the nest is also right beside a birdbath I set up, and I see the male cardinal drinking from it every day.

@moffittjc Oh wow. I see a pair in the yard but I can't see where they are going, in the cypress trees probably. It is that time of the year. Cardinals spook real easy. Too bad you can't get a cam setup there to record. Sounds like the perfect setup.

@CarolDM Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was not sure if you had a bird or not and what Brendel and Dude would think of a bird in the home with them. It seems like dust gets in everywhere. It is a very interesting shelf and you are right it is shaped like a bird cage.

I have not done any dusting in the last few days. I have to do some tomorrow and the coming weekend would be a deep cleaning day. We hope that our carpentry project would be over by then and we would have our walk-in closet ready by then. That's a lovely piece and quite well-called birdcage shelves.

@CarolDM Even I do my cleaning everyday. I was not well since Friday and so I just left it for three days. I am freak about cleanliness. Also doing it regularly helps. We don't get overwhelmed when things pile up.
