Update 5/20/22 - DISH TV Sucks!

I called DISH TV to get a quote on TV/internet/phone because Spectrum's price had skyrocketed to $266.62. I had nothing but trouble with them. From the very start it was a problem. He insisted on taking our credit card number and my Social Security number before he would even quote prices. I found out later that this is because he planned on scheduling installation and getting me to commit to DISH RIGHT THEN AND THERE! We were on the phone almost an hour; and he did nothing but try and get me to commit. When I asked for a list of channels, he sent them via email and insisted on my getting on the computer right now. He said that if I tried to read the email later, that it would not show the channels. He was right. They have it set up so that you HAVE to be on the phone with the rep to read the channels in the email. Otherwise, there is a big "X" on the email and nothing more. He continued with "What is holding you back from committing?" "I'll hold on and you can talk to your husband", he said. I kept telling him I was NOT going to sign up today; but he kept pushing. Finally he went just too far; and I said, very loudly, "I TOLD YOU I AM NOT SIGNING UP TODAY/ THIS CALL IS OVER! GOODBYE!" Then I hung up on him. My blood pressure at this point was boiling. I plan on filing a complaint against this rep and DISH...although he was just following DISH's protocol. AND, after all this, their price was only $30 less for 2 years. After that time it would have been even more than Spectrum! I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. When Meals on Wheels came, my husband ate his (stuffed cabbage); but I saved my appetite for lunch out. We went to Red Lobster. I was very disappointed that they had totally changed the menu. My usual choices had been discontinued. I chose bacon-wrapped scallops, clam strips, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. We had Cheddar Bay Biscuits and an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms. The stuffed mushrooms were sub par and tasted different than they usually did. My Brussels sprouts were undercooked and as hard as rocks. I had to send them back for another order which wasn't much better. My scallops and clam strips were good. We had two Rewards coming -- 20% off the bill plus a dessert of chocolate cake (very decadent) and ice cream. The waitress couldn't figure out how to work the device on the table to get our 20% and dessert. We ended up being there almost an additional hour. She finally went to the manager and figured out how to apply the 20% but forgot about the dessert. When we called her back to the table, she decided not to try and figure out how to give us credit through the device and just comped us the dessert. Hubs and I shared the ice cream; and we took the very decadent chocolate cake home for me to have later with some decaf coffee. SO! Not real thrilled with Red Lobster at this point; and definitely angry at DISH TV. I have filled out a form on Direct TV so that I could look at their packages. The packages come up; but they are too small to read. I anticipate that I will be getting a call from Direct TV; and this person will also try to get me to commit. I'll be ready for him/her and will tell them I will hang up on them too if they persist! :-D So how was your day?? lolololol Photo Credit: Facebook

I don't give personal information until I'm ready to commit to something. I just hang up.

@LindaOHio Dish always did use questionable tactics. We had them for a few months but if you don't pay them three months in advance, they shut the cable off. I pay a month at a time so told them to take it out... then they tried to make me pay for them to uninstall their equipment. I threatened to sue them and they stopped saying anything. (That happened almost twenty years ago. Their dish was still on the roof of the house we moved out of three years ago.)

That's what I usually do; but I wanted a price quote. DISH uses some very questionable tactics.

So sorry you had this horrible experience with DISH. I have never had any dealings with them. I have been with Sparklight for over 20 years. They have always been good to deal with. I did a post recently about the price and called them to see what I could do. I was successful and got the monthly bill down for a year. Sorry to hear about your Red Lobster experience too. We can't afford to eat there very often but when we do it is a nice experience. I hope they haven't changed their recipes as well. Their biscuits are so good I would hate to taste a change in them. I hope you have a better day.

Thanks. I think I'm going to post a Discussion about cutting the cable and see what members have to say about services such as Pluto where you can get a whole bunch of channels. Three of Red Lobster's dishes tasted different. They may have cheapened down the recipes. The biscuits tasted different too.

Dish TV is of the TATA group and their services are very bad. I have airtel dth for TV and jio for phone and internet.

Lordy lordy! In my mind no cable company ever has a reason to ask for your social security number. Cox cable stinks, but they've never asked me for that. Dish overall sounds nuts. I hope your Directv call goes better.

Oh, I could’ve told you Dish sucks. (But you didn’t ask. ) I spend nothing on TV. I have an Apple TV box and a smart TV. I get free channels from both Samsung (the company that made my TV) and Tubi (a free app), although most of what I watch is live webcams on You Tube. (Side note: they have a mile marker 0 webcam now, add it to your list. ) Even my MLB is free because of T-Mobile being the “Official carrier of Major League Baseball,” so T-Mobile customers get free MLB every year.

Yes, we've seen the MM 0 webcam. We used to have DISH. I think they've gotten really bad over the years. Thank you for the information on what you now have. I may post a Discussion to see what others have done who cut the cord.

Usually I would; and I would never give out my SS #; but he said he had to check my credit. It was all BS so he could get the info needed to get an installation going even though I said NO a couple of dozen times.

Your day sounds very frustrating and I hate having to deal with those customer service reps. It would be so much easier to be able to view it all online and then decide what you want. He really sounds like a bully and I'm happy yoy hung up on him. Red Lobster sounds like a disappointment too
