Have you heard of FOMO?

I saw FOMO written in an advertisement today and wondered if the acronym is common in other countries. FOMO stands for ‘fear of missing out’ and the ad was concerning video games. By subscribing, you would supposedly be one of the first to know about any new game that might be on offer.
I first heard the term at Fairbridge Music Festival in Western Australia. A singer was revving up the crowd to create so much noise and applause that those in nearby venues would experience FOMO and come flocking to our tent to see what all the fuss was about. It seemed to work as the venue was full by the time her act finished.
The photo was taken by me at the festival but is of a different act.

@GardenGerty Oh definitely! Some are good ideas - air fryers, slow cookers - but they might start out as FOMOs.

I remember a female wrestler star in her Tweets saying the term "FOMO". When she mentioned that the meaning was Fear Of Missing Out. I got the message since kids use sayings that I am familiar with in their twitter accounts.

@JudyEv The joke that I make of myself is that I understand Latin comedians on television show speaking better than kids today talking in their language.

Yes, very familiar with the term. It applies a lot to social media and the younger generation. They are constantly checking their social media sites for the latest updates due to FOMO.

I've never heard that particular acronym before but I tend to forget the meaning of the ones the younger generation uses all the time.

Yes, recently on news, the reporters all younger parents, was discussing things, FOMO was said. Not heard of BOLO or YOLO, though. Sounds like it was a good concert.
