A service agent who actually spoke English!

I recently had some checks stolen from my mail box. No, not the $4,000 check that was stolen from me a few month ago. And not the meds that were stolen from me two or three months ago. This was more recent.
Yesterday, I spoke to someone with my bank in New York who said he would cancel the stolen checks and send me some new ones for free. I asked if he could have them sent to a bank branch, as my mail box is not secure. He said he could not.
So I am still vulnerable to criminals.
But the cool thing was this: This guy actually spoke English! If you are American, have you ever spoken to a phone representative who spoke clear English? Did it make your day?
Here in California, we are utterly unprotected against criminals. The Post Office (which I contacted) did not change the lock on my mailbox after the first crime. My apartment complex managers did nothing. The Sheriff's office gave up on the first case after I was refunded by my money manager.
Because I have no history of mental illness, and no criminal record, I could probably buy a .45. But I don't want to have to buy a pistol to protect myself from crime here. Plus I SUCK with pistols. I am accurate at 30 yards with my open sight .22, but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with pistols.
What would you do in my situation?
Wait. That wasn't the subject of my post. Have you ever had a phone representative who spoke your language clearly? It made my day!

Yes, Abdul, Joe (with an Indian accent), and Miguel all swore they spoke English! I don't know how you've been getting anyone who couldn't swear they speak perfect English!

I hate you had to go through that, because you can pick a mailbox way to easily. And the dismissal of your concerns, unforgivable. Some people just never learn and it's very sad to see. At any case, most of the time I am not that lucky.

I bet even P.O. Boxes are not 100% safe.

Isn't stealing mail still a felony and federal offense? The FBI should be looking into this.

@vandana7 No ...actually your Federal Government wants mail to be stolen. That way they can save honest citizens from any bombs that terrorists might have sent. There are simply too many terrorists around.
-------------------That's pretty smart, actually. Having mail stolen is annoying but not as annoying as a bomb going off when you open a letter.

I've spoken to people with American names who were clearly not American. Or at least not American American.

@vandana7 I've spoken to people with an Indian accent whose name was something like Bob.
Are there any Indian people named Bob? I don't think so.

I don't know if you remember me having sent my audio recording to you for confirming whether it could pass off as reasonably good, because DE is inclined to make fun of Indian accent. Trust me that small bit had more than 50 retakes. LOL. You would not follow my language, and it is sprinkled with a lot of local slang and other languages. I think I am better at writing than talking or listening English.

I would start thinking about moving for the first question.
For the second I have had it happen but not very often.

In India cheques are handed to the person personally by the postman. In banks here most officials speak the local language and English too. At least I haven't such problems.

Most of the mails in the post office don't have mail boxes but they're fraudulently forced open to get the money or valuables inside.

Yes, I just recently had an English speaking rep. I didn't have to constantly say, "Sorry?". I don't know what to do about your mailbox theft. That's a real problem.

Put a fake parcel in your mail box thats a glitter bomb they'll take it and when they open it it will explode in a glittery ball of glory... Make sure to use biodegradable glitter though you dont want to get sued if glitter fuses to their eyeball.
Yes I have. Ive also had people that are migrants speak better English than some Australians...
