A great summer treat for tourists who visit beach resorts is a box of Salt Water Taffy. Do you recall the first time you tried Salt Water Taffy? Was it a gift or did you buy some at a tourist attraction/vacation spot?
Salt Water Taffy is composed of sugar, cornstarch, corn syrup, glycerine, water, butter, salt, natural and/or artificial flavor, and food color. Although you can order the candy through mail orders, it is still being sold in shops on the Atlantic City boardwalk.
I remember my parents buying Salt Water Taffy on both Atlantic City and Asbury Park's (NJ)boardwalks. We were there to enjoy the rides and my folks enjoyed strolling the boardwalk and seeing the shops.
Some of the most popular flavors today are vanilla, banana, peppermint, and watermelon. My favorite flavor was chocolate! For those who tried some what's yours?

Yum, home-made taffy! What a treat
Can't go wrong with vanilla, no surprises there, lol.
Fun fact: Salt Water Taffy was originally produced and marketed in the shore resort at Atlantic City, New Jersey (U.S.) in the 1880s.
Despite its name, the taffy contains no seawater

@dgobucks226 Thanks for the info. Is 'taffy' another term for 'toffee' perhaps?

Not really a salt water taffy fan, too sticky, and I don't have a favorite flavor. I might be tempted to try some again though if I found some unique flavors.

Saying salt water is a cool way to reference the ocean. It fits in with branding it as a boardwalk treat.

Yes, a popular item on many state boardwalks I'm sure! They have many flavors maybe a few new ones at least from what I remember, but I always liked chocolate and vanilla best.

Are boardwalks and via the mail the only places it's available? I thought I ate that many years ago but I would have guessed that I bought it at a store in town. Maybe it was a different type of taffy
While I was at the Atlantic city boardwalk once in my life I don't believe we had much money to spend it on while there. I only remember waking around for a little while before continuing on our trip to GA.
