I love reading. I seldom buy new books these days. I check the books in my bookshelf and see which ones I like to re-read. I just re-read Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell. I also enjoy mystery, detective and adventurous fiction, classic literature (mainly Chinese), and non-fiction books about philosophy, psychology. What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

I read almost anything (fiction) but not very much into sci-fi or fantasy which seems popular these days. Mostly I lean toward mystery/thrillers but have lots of authors I enjoy that write other types of stuff

@Beestring I love finding a new author especially if they have multiple books . My biggest problem is always having too many books, not enough time but yet still always wanting more

I like to read psychological thrillers. I was reading last night, that had a very unexpected plot twist. I don't think anyone could see that one coming, and I am generally pretty good at figuring out plots.

I enjoy fictions as long as it's not too much of mystery or sci fi thing. I read a lot of self help, spiritual and philosophical books. I have reduced buying books. I borrow it from others. Even I love to check my bookshelf and re read some of them again and again. My house is full of books and I don't want to add more because of space constraints.

@Beestring I have few bookshelves but still every other storage corner is full of books. My daughters are also voracious readers. They keep adding the good ones to their collections.

@arunima25 I live in a small apartment, only have two bookshelves. So I have to stop myself buying new ones for a while. I may donate some I think I'll not re-read to community center library.

I'd say Science Fiction and Fantasy are about 2/3 of my books. The rest are classics, other fiction, non-fiction, classic children's books and German books.

I am a former editor, and so I did my fair share of reading, and of course a lot of reading was not "desirable." I had rules for how far I would read when it came to reviewing manuscripts submitted. But for me it is horror. That's the genre I prefer to write in and it is the genre I prefer to read.
