It’s a girl thing gotta love a nice bag

I went to American eagle yesterday while killing time for my oldest daughter to finish shopping. I found myself a pair of pants and used the gift card my husband gave me last Christmas to buy them. They gave me a nice bag to take my clothes home in. NY has banned the plastic bags you used to get at stores but apparently they can give these out. They are a thicker material and can be reused many times. I asked if they give them out all the time and she said just during the holidays. When I got home I showed my husband my new pants and he said just one and wondered why they gave me such a big bag. I told him they give them to everyone and I was excited about it. He said “Who the h*ll gets excited over a bag?” I told him it’s a girl thing and we love a good box we can reuse too.

@Tina30219 for someone who Iikes to be in nature so much it’s surprising to me how he never recycled before moving in here. He doesn’t care about filling up the landfills like I do.

I will be giving gifts in bags rather than wrapping them. All will get the same gift.

@Ladyduck my husband would rather yeah a garbage bag or something to use and throw out. He isn’t as environmentally conscious as I am.

@LadyDuck huh can you give me an example on what they are strict on that you could be fined. The only thing we would get fined for us driving to some area and throwing litter or garbage on the ground and driving off.

@shaggin The authorities are more and more strict here about garbage recycling. I am careful what I throw and where, I do not want to be fined.

@andriaperry he just throws all the bags away I have to pick them out to reuse them. He usually knows just to leave things on the dryer for me to sort where I want to put things.

@Leapea2417 usually even a nice paper bag I can reuse as a gift bag I enjoy but today getting an Aeropostale paper bag that ripped as I was carrying it I was wishing it was a nice bag like American Eagle gave me.

Plastic shopping bags have been banned here for quite some time. Eventually you will see that it does become a guy thing too for a nice sturdy bag. We have to buy bags like that here, stores do not give them for free.

@Fleura oh that’s a neat idea to take the rain boots off and put them in there to keep the floor clean! I use them to pack things when I go on vacation as well. Ny doesn’t allow plastic shopping bags to be given our anymore so I need many reusable bags weekly to bring home my groceries.

@shaggin Yes we have quite a lot too, I use them for all sorts. I put my clothes in one when I go away for a weekend. We pack food and utensils in them when we go camping, plus another one for coats and hats. We use several in the house to store boots - just take wellies off and stand them in the bag so we don't get mud on the floor but don't have to clean them every time we wear them either.
