Update at the hospital.

Pretty started complaining about not feeling well when she got up this morning but said she still wanted to go shopping for groceries. She got a shower then opened the bathroom door and told me we weren't going anywhere... I went to check on her and found her passed out in her bedroom floor. We're in the ER and they're doing tests. Pretty had "dangerously low" potassium levels. She's getting 3 bags of potassium with a saline drip. But they are letting her come home tonight. (Each bag takes an hour.) I'll talk with you all when we get home. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes.

@kobesbuddy She's fine. We got home around 10:30 pm last night. I've already made an appointment for her with our regular doctor this coming Tuesday. (The ER doctors recommended making an appointment with our GP as soon as they can see her for more testing, just to make sure they hadn't missed anything at the ER last night.)

Thank you very much. The doctors said they aren't sure what caused Pretty's problem but they fixed it by giving her potassium via an IV.

@TheHorse The doctors said that sometimes a person's body throws away needed potassium if the person has been even slightly ill. Pretty was throwing up and running a slight fever a few days ago. They gave her an IV drip of potassium to bring her levels back up to normal.

@MarieCoyle Exactly! We got home and I asked if she was hungry and then fed her some of the pasta and ground beef I made late last night. She fell asleep eating it.

@DaddyEvil Oh, I would believe it. I walk that walk with my son and sitting in the ER or following the ambulance is a time you wish you never had to repeat. We all want our loved ones safe and well, always.

@DaddyEvil That's great to hear. I guess she's like me having low blood potassium (hypokalemia). Since I started eating at least 3 bananas a day my potassium has gone back to normal. Have a Happy New Year.

@dya80dya The ER doctors thought the illness Pretty had last week caused her body to dump potassium. They said it happens a lot but most people don't notice it.

@DaddyEvil I'm sure you are both happy to be back home. Did the dive in her potassium happen because she had been so nauseas and ill for several days? Hopefully it will not happen again. It's never good to find someone we love on the floor, I know. I'm glad she is doing better.

Thank you! Yes, I drove her to the ER. She is fine after getting an IV drip with potassium in it! The doctors say she was extremely but aren't sure why she had the problem.

Pretty has my best thoughts flowing out to her. When she gets home feed her plenty of beans, potatoes, tomatoes and bananas. They will bring her potassium up. So sorry she’s not well.

@RubyHawk I brought her home last night. The ER doctors said they couldn't do anything more for her there and we were both exhausted and just wanted to sleep. I've heard her moving around in the house and she says she feels fine now but she's still exhausted and bruised from all the blood draws they did last night as well as the IV port they put in. The ER doctors did tell us to make an appointment with our regular doctor to have more tests run just to make sure they didn't miss anything last night. I did call the doctor's office this morning and Pretty has an appointment this next Tuesday.
