She can’t smell the customers

My oldest daughter lost lost of her sense of smell when she has corona over a year ago. The baby and I went to visit her today and look around the thrift store where she works. Unbeknownst to me I think three families got met online last month and planned to stop showering and then meet up on this day at the thrift store before taking there next monthly shower. I didn’t see these families talk at all but it had to be a plan they set up ahead of time. I wonder if they came up with a good slogan for their outing. The odor was so bad I was trying not to vomit as I walked around. Body odor like you would not believe and cat urine. I thought it would be a nice place to work until today. My daughter for this reason only is very fortunate to have very little sense of smell. She could not smell these odors at all. I know the one family who comes often and the workers have to spray the store after they leave to try to rid the smell. I think they needed to just evacuate the store today instead. The photo is of a cup I got my husband at a different thrift store on Wednesday for $3.

Oh, wow! That would gross me out! I know there were some people who came into Walmart that hadn't bathed in a long time... I'd gag when they got too close to me. I couldn't help it.

@Laurakemunto The gag reflex is involuntary. I couldn't help it. I did move away as soon as I realized they were approaching.

@Daddyevil that is hilarious. You are right it’s not something you could help. I told my husband if I worked there and saw them come in I’d have to wear a mask.

I'm not understanding why the three families did that then met up at that thrift store? Some weird pact?

@sallypup I was actually just joking around. It just was my dumb luck to be there when so many smelly people were in the store at the same time. I don’t think the families even knew each other.

@jstory07 I’ve been worried about losing my sense of smell like my kids did like legitimately phobic about it but that day in the thrift store I was thinking hmm maybe sometimes losing my sense of smell would have been a good thing.

That's so disgusting! I guess all that could be done is spraying after they leave. I had a student stink so badly, I had to send him to the nurse who in turn dealt with his mother. He stunk up my room. Cute cup!

@DianneN I had a friends whose sandals were like that. She was always saying rude things to me and the last day she was at our school (her family moved a little further south) I told her off and told her how nasty her feet always smell. She cried. I felt bad days later but not that day.

@DianneN I remember a teacher I had would spray her classroom with something after the seventh grade classes left. She said they would smell terrible after gym class.

@shaggin I can understand that. My student's sneakers reeked every single day. It was gag-worthy.

I don't understand how people can get so smelly and be happy with it. It's good your daughter can't really smell it.

@shaggin I mean, if you stink like that isn't there other sensations that tip you off that you should shower? Like itching or something? UGH

@celticeagle so many people lost their sense of smell from corona that they may not be able to smell how bad they smell. I was hanging out with a guy once who smelled terrible. I told him and he said he wasn’t aware of it. I was shocked.

I wonder how can people live without taking bath for a month. The weather is warm here and I don't think there is anyone who doesn't take a bath here daily. There are days when we take bath twice daily.

@sjvg1976 it’s winter here and quite cold but no excuse not to clean themselves. I don’t really know how long these people go without showing but it has to be a long time to smell so bad.

From that aspect I would say your daughter is lucky she lost her sense of smell. That must be terrible to have to spray the store after customers leave.

I am sensitive to smells too. Every now and then, I would pass by some seniors at the shopping areas who no longer like having showers or changing clothes. Mama Mia!

@shaggin Yes, like a toilet which has not been cleaned for awhile, with urine soaked through! (I often tried to disguise my discomfort in a polite manner, in case those people got offended.)
