Having to move some time

They are going to do some improvements where I live and we will have to move out when our unit comes up. I am not sure if they will be moving our belongings or if we have to do it. They will be putting us up in motel rooms. This is not going to be fun because they say we might only be out for 2 or 3 days. We have not been told if they are paying for our meals or if we will have a way to cook for ourselves. What a mess.

Good luck! At a guess, I'd be planning on paying for my own meals and moving myself... unless they tell you differently. Whether your stuff needs to move will depend on what type of work they're doing.

They are taking carpet out so my bedroom will have to be empty. That is all I know as of now. I will not allow this place to move my stuff out. I will move it if they don't hire professional movers. Then I still wonder about that.

@velvet53 I'd be asking questions so you can get things done before they're ready and do it themselves.

Any time we are displaced it becomes a hassle or a burden. Just try to keep a sense of humor about the entire thing. Treat it like a mini vacation. Years ago I lived in an apartment and my A/C went out in the middle of summer. Living in Florida, summer with no A/C is like living in hell. Anyway, it took them a few days to get the parts they needed to fix the unit, so they put me in a hotel for a few days. I cranked that hotel A/C down to as cold as it would get. Lol

@moffittjc Yes I do like to gamble. I used to work on a cruise boat in Laughlin, Nevada. Needless to say when our shift was over we hit the slot machines. What fun we had!

That can't be fun. I'd hate to have to stay in a motel, those places scare me.

@rebelann Me too. It is going to be a lot of work for just a couple of days but it has to be done. I was told that we had to move the stuff ourselves but now I am hearing that they are going to move it. I'm not sure I really want just anyone moving my stuff.

Oh dear I am so sorry..but I am glad they are paying for the motel. This is too much on people but I guess is it cosmetic or is it necessary repairs?

I was told that they are taking carpet out of all units. We will be getting LED, some will get new stoves and refrigerators if needed. Oh and some will get new cabinets. They are changing our faucets and any other things that they find wrong. That is all I have been able to find out so far.

I'm sorry you need to move out while they do the improvements. I hope they cover everything. They should since they require you to move out while they work.

I agree with you. I have heard that they will put us in a motel room and pay for storage. But there a lot of questions I have. Will they pay for our meals if we don't have a way to cook. Why can't we have a keep to the storage unit. Will they be responsible for things damaged when they move it. They need to give us more details and a date as to when this will be happening.

They are working on the boilers and hot water tanks first. It is going to take quite awhile for them to get all of this done.

I don't know what all they will be doing to my apartment. I do know that they are going to put LED light fixtures in. Some apartments will get new stoves and refrigerators if needed. They also said something about new cabinets.

One for sure is they are taking all carpet out. That means my bedroom has to be empty. And possible new cabinets which means I will have to move a lot out of the way.

Best of luck to you with that. I hope they pay for the motel, So from what I understand is that except for your important private things you leave everything else behind while they make improvements? Can you go check on your unit?

Some of us might have to move everything out. They will supply the unit but we won't get a key. That is so wrong. I will contact a lawyer about that. It is our stuff and who is to say if the employees won't go in and steal items.
