Missing dog, a birthday, a sick baby and ER visit

Tuesday my husband came home from work and asked where my little dog was. I realized I hadn’t seen her in an hour but couldn’t remember when I let her out. It took me awhile to remember it was when my stepson came home from school. I told the lab either to go in the living room or outside so she wouldn’t be by the baby. When she went outside my little dog ran out as well. I searched the property and neighboring streets. I cried thinking a coyote got her. Long story short my father and my nephew found here. I was so happy! That night we had to go to my husbands parents house for a birthday celebration for his nephew. They had a tasty ice cream cake and pizza. The baby started running a fever while we were there. Wednesday my husband had his first session with physical therapy. They taped his knee but it didn’t help any he felt it was making things worse so he took it off Friday. Thursday was awful the baby still wasn’t feel well trying constantly to poop then nothing but a little streak of color on her diaper and she was still running a fever. I was very worried and sick of her having to go through this (I had called the doctor again a few days ago to get her sent to a specialist for her stomach issues she has so often) so I took her to the ER. My husband went with me which was helpful when it took literally four people to hold this child down to do what they needed. She had an X-ray done and had a blockage. He thinks she has something wrong where certain parts of her bowel are emptying correctly or slow to push things along. He gave her a fleet enema and told me to give her miralax every day and to see a GI doctor. The miralax is working so well I am relieved but I want to see a lot more testing done to get to the bottom of what’s been going on with her stomach. Photo is unrelated. It is beautiful woodwork at the doctors office I have gone to since I was little (30+ years) and my kids have gone to as well for 19 years.

I'm so sorry the baby has been so sick; that's awfully scary. Hopefully, they can get her into a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. And I am SO glad your dog was was found, and fine. I saw "missing dog" in your title, and felt a little sick.

@AmbiePam I’m hoping to receive a call about setting up an appointment soon. It will probably be a 2 hour drive one way to see one but it will be worth it. We need to get to the bottom of what is going on with our poor little girls belly. I cried and thought my dog was gone for good I was so surprised when she showed up. She’s never gone off like that before and I hope she never does again.

Sorry about the baby not feeling well. Hope all goes well with the tests. It's better to know the root cause and get it treated well. Take care. Happy that the dog was found safe. And I just love this beautiful woodwork. It's so classic and elegant.

@arunima25 absolutely! I definitely want to see her have more testing done to know what exactly is wrong with her stomach and what will be the best way to treat it. It sure is pretty the woodwork! They don’t make things like this anymore when they build houses.

@arunima25 no I’ve been waiting for a call for an appointment. I’m going to contact the office of the GI doctor she saw when she was little and see if they can see her again instead of waiting for the call from whatever office our family doctor called to refer her to.

@shaggin I hope that the baby is doing good now. Have you started with the tests? There would be such pieces of beauty in old houses.

I'm sorry the baby keeps having issues and hope the GI doctor can figure out what is causing the problems. Good luck, Dearheart.

@Daddyevil thank you. I’m hopefully they will be able to figure out what’s going on. I was worried with her having a fever and being born with a hernia it could be something to do with that. A blockage isn’t good either. She’s going well now taking the miralax daily but is still still and I’m coughing a lot today too. Someone’s always sick around here I can’t wait for school to be out.

@shaggin You're welcome. I'm sure the GI doctor will do all he can to figure out what's causing the issues as quickly as possible. I'm sorry you're sick now. I hope you feel better quickly. I was always glad when school got out for the year... Pretty brought home every illness any kid at school had and gave it to me. She usually didn't get sick or very sick but I'd catch whatever it was and be sick for a week or more.

@sallypup we have passed on all our bad genetics to my poor little girl . Isn’t it lovely! I always admire it and thought it would be nice to share it here. I bet it was a gorgeous home when it was built before it was turned into a doctors office.

@Judyev they sure did make use of all the space in a great way. Here is another view that shows a better view of a small cupboard under the stairs.

Oh, I hope you can find a good doctor who can help the baby's issues. When they are really little it's even harder, they don't understand about ER visits or just why they are sick. I'm sure sorry, I hope she feels better really soon.

@MarieCoyle my cold is full force right now but the babies seems to be getting better thankfully. No call so far from whatever GI doctor our general practitioner was referring us too. The baby has seen one when she was younger for acid reflux due to her stomach being slow to empty. I am going to message that office and see if I can get an appointment with him again. I liked him. I think it was only a 1 1/2 hour drive compared to the 2 we usually have to do for the other office.

@shaggin Oh, I hate it when they are slow on the mark to call back. Yes, you will probably have to contact them. It's hard when a baby is sickly, I hope you get some answers and she feels better soon.

I am glad your dog was found and she is safe, you can relax for that. I am so sorry for your baby, she surely run a fever because of the blocage. They must find out the problem, she cannot live on medications to poo during all her life.

@LadyDuck my oldest daughter was on Miralax until she was about 5. She had constipation so bad when she was about my youngests age that she prolapsed twice. I blame the doctors on that he just kept giving her more and more laxatives to take and her body got dependent on them. When I demanded me she be sent to a specialist she was put on miralax that helped.

@LadyDuck with the baby the conditions I looked up that could cause this they either have to continue to take miralax for life or have surgery. Maybe it’s something she will outgrow who knows. They chalked my issues up to IBS. Both my parents have stomach issues undiagnosed and a lot of the grandkids have trouble too.

@shaggin You are correct blaming the doctors. Our body becomes addicted to laxatives, I am glad that you found a way to help your daughter.

@aninditasen she is much better from her cold and from her stomach issues but she still needs to see a GI doctor to find out what is causing the issues so she won’t have to live on miralax daily .

@thelme55 I’m feeling very sick but thankfully the baby seems to be better from her cold. Her bowel issues are under control with the Miralax she is taking so I am happy with that until she sees the GI doctor.

@shaggin I do as well and lately it is hard to find. I enjoy the wood cabinets and closet doors here, as well as hardwood floors. How sweet, I know you were so happy to get your dog back. My cat Brendel has gone missing overnight before and I know that feeling.

I'm glad to hear that your little dog was found and that it brought you much happiness. Finding lost pets can be a huge relief. It sounds like you had a mix of events during that time, including a birthday celebration and your baby running a fever. I'm sorry to hear that your baby had to go through the medical ordeal at the ER, but I hope that the treatment and medication will help alleviate her stomach issues.

@spiritedgal now we have more information when we go to see the GI then we would have if we hadn’t gone to the ER which I think will be helpful. I am sure they will have to run a lot of tests to find out what is wrong with her stomach. Hopefully it’s something she will o it grow. My husband took a ride down south to scope out some hunting areas and took our two house dogs with them. They are probably so happy.

@snowy22315 I was so worried and upset. She’s never run off like that before she doesn’t like being very far from us. The construction on the road must have scared her. I pray my husband will finish the fence soon but he keeps starting projects and not finishing them .

@sjvg1979 yes I’ll definitely be seeing a GI doctor for her stomach issues. It’s been going on a long time and it’s possible she has Hirschsprung’s disease.

@rebelann we will find her a good doctor! I’m hopeful it won’t be Hirschsprung’s disease and will just be something she will outgrow. She had terrible acid reflux as an infant that needed treatment and was also both with an umbilical hernia so I am wondering if these things are connected.

When my son was almost 2 he had a problem almost similar, then a friend suggested it could be the formula l was giving him. I changed it and he was fine.
