Would you be onboard to this change in fireworks?

I was on Freekibble yesterday or the day before, and they mentioned that one town in Italy has completely banned traditional fireworks in favor of silent fireworks. Apparently, you get all of the visual splendor without the noise that disturbs both human and animals. It appears this was passed in 2015 primarily to ease the stress on pets, and wildlife. I would love this if it were passed everywhere. However, a few people I mentioned this to say they like the spectacle of the sound. Maybe they don’t have a pet, or if they do their pet doesn’t care about the noise. Would you like the fireworks option without the noise? Or do you not mind the noise?

I love seeing the ones that go up in the sky and burst into colors. I hate the nose that comes with fireworks and it really does make our poor dog a nervous wreck. Last night sounded like a war zone here and it was quite disturbing. It sounded like there were some sort of fireworks that were flying past my house. I worry so much about one landing on the roof and starting a fire.

That is a good point. I read this morning that did happen last night. I think it was in Texas, but I could be wrong.

@AmbiePam we had a house catch on fire from fireworks over the weekend. it wasn't close to me but within our county. A firework fell from a tree onto a roof of a house and the house caught fire.

It is correct, it is the city of Collecchio (province of Parma - Emilia Romagna). Fireworks are banned here in Switzerland, silent or not. The non silent scare the animals, but anyway a firework can start a fire.

@AmbiePam The authorities are trying to protect the animals. Many were scared, run on the crowded roads and were killed. I was so glad when they banned the fireworks, one year one landed in our garden and almost set the fence on fire.

I don't mind the noise if the people setting them off stopped at 10 pm, like they're supposed to. (My fishies don't notice the booms and whizzes. )

The noise bothers many veterans also. They are why we have something to celebrate. So I think it is a great idea

I would like to see how those fireworks would work. No matter what they do; all fireworks would make some kind of noise.

Apparently, not the ones in Italy. Maybe you can find a video of it on YouTube. They’ve been doing it awhile, so surely it has been recorded. I’d love an explanation on how they work too.

There are a few traditional ones that don't. Magnesium wires don't either.

I know the kids enjoy them. And I wish they had their own place to enjoy, for a short while, then be done with it. I can't tolerate it with my PTSD. And so many pets run away every year, scared of the noise. It is ridiculous.

That would be wonderful but I would question if it would harm the air in any way, it's bad enough we drive cars and use planes both of which pollute the air.

Here they are doing drone light shows. They are beautiful and can have a similar effect to fireworks, but none of the annoying noises and that smoke that you see in the skies afterwards.

@AmbiePam Provided that they use the battery operated ones, these light shows would be a safe alternative and better for the environment. I do not like the noise pollution from regular fire works.

@AmbiePam I bet some younger kids are afraid of fireworks. I NEVER wore a Halloween costume where I covered my face when working with littlies. Many 1- and 2-year-olds find it scary when a familiar adult is "someone else."

I would like it without noise. I enjoy the visual spectacular show but the noise can be a spoilsport. And it's cruel to the animals. I would also like them to consider the pollution that it brings.

@AmbiePam Pollution is tripled...the chemicals used in them are produced in some factory ..so that releases some toxic fumes. Then the fireworks are transported on these petrol consuming vehicles, that release pollutants. Finally, when the fireworks are there, the chemicals burning away too release some pollution.

@AmbiePam Burning of fireworks does bring pollution, less or more. I hope that they limit it to ones that produce less, if we can't totally avoid it.

Yes I would like no noise fireworks. My poor cats were scared. There were some dogs around here that were barking every time they heard them. One dog took off the owner had to chase it down.

The noise causes so much anxiety in pets, in people with PTSD, and others. I would be thrilled if, for ONE year, all the money people spend on this would go for a true need for our country--homeless people and pets, animal shelters, building tiny houses for displaced veterans, and oh, I could go on and on, Amber...just one year. Can you imagine how much good that would be?
