What should you give up, but you won’t?

Some of you may be really good at giving things up when you know it’s best for you. Whether it be a food item that is unhealthy, or a person in your life who brings you down, you can just cut those things or people out of your life, and move on. Then others, probably more like me, have more trouble letting go of people or things. Is there something in your life you know you should probably cut out, or give up on? What is stopping you from doing it? Or, did you just make a change, finally, that was a long time in coming.

I sit for a living, which requires very little effort physically, I should stop not exercising-which means that I should start doing some. I am too seditary. I know that there are alot of other things that I should cut out, but that one is a big one.

I can think of more than one thing but I am like you with cutting things or people out. Soda is one thing that I know I shouldn't drink, but I still do it. My consumption is pretty moderate at this point, but I like soda maybe even love it..so never having it again sounds depressing.

I understand that. Although the doctors told me never to just stop drinking Coke altogether because it wouldn’t be worth it with my migraines, I absolutely should cut back on how much of it I drink.

@AmbiePam In exchange for a migraine headache, I would never stop drinking Coke altogether! You are a very smart lady:)

@AmbiePam Does the caffeine in Coke help your migraines? I've never been able to identify triggers for mine, possibly really bright lights, but that's usually after a migraine has started.

Oh, I did that a few years ago. I love pizza but I haven't had any in a couple years. I doubt I'll eat any in the future unless I make it myself ..... ummm, I'z way to lazy to make it though.

My doctor keeps telling me I "should" give up everything that has sugar in it. Then admitted that she still drinks regular sodas even though she's diabetic. I'm pre-diabetic. As long as my glucose levels stay in the pre-diabetic range, I'm not giving up my once in a while soda and real ice cream. (Lately, my glucose readings are in the "normal" range for healthy adults, not in the pre-diabetic range. I think I'm doing just fine.)

She’s not setting a really good example now, is she. If you’re in the normal range, I wouldn’t change the habit either.

@DaddyEvil It seems stupid to me as well. It doesn’t make sense at all, in my opinion. Does your doctor think she won’t beat her cancer, do you know?

@AmbiePam She told us that since she has cancer, she's not worried about diabetes killing her. Which is silly... But it's her life. The doctor says even though my glucose tests in the "normal" range now, I'm still classed as pre-diabetic because they (I'm presuming she means doctors.) never reverse a finding like that. She said if I'm ever in the diabetic range when she tests me, I'll be labeled "diabetic", even if I've eaten ice cream before my doctor appointment. That just seems stupid to me.

I often think that I should give up having my little drink in the evening. Then I wonder why I should as I am perfectly healthy and this is a little pleasure for me.

I have a hard time letting go of things or people. I am purging my home of many things for our move next year , but it has been very difficult. I am proud of myself that I am making pretty good progress.

I had to cut my sister out of my life. She tried to destroy me, with her anger and lies. She is bi-polar, her mind is sick without any medications.

That must have been hard, but you were right. A bipolar person has to take their medication no matter what, and it is up to them to do it. You can try to help them all day long, but ultimately it is up to them.

I am crazy about sweet foods, while diabetes creates a limit on these. So I've given up regular portions of sweet foods, in exchange for a minute amount of these things. A tiny dish of something, is just enough to satisfy this desire. First, I fill up on protein foods and green veggies. Starches in limited amounts, this keeps my glucose level safe. Caffeinated coffee? I will never give it up. Cut back? Yes.

I get attached to people easily. And when they leave it hurts so much. I have many friends who left me once they got into a relationship. Whether it's a boy friend or a girl friend both just kick me out.

Computer time . But I can't - I just can't . I know I would get a whole lot more done in real life if I just cut down my computer time . That being said, I just love myLot and friends . . . I could never let that go .

for me, i guess i dont pray enough, I pray well only when I have challenges but once the challenge is conquered, I just turn my face as if nothing has happened. i really need to make praying a habit. on the other hand, I used to love listening to blues, I struggled so much to divert my listening to gospel music but its been so hard for me. thank God for hillsong. they have been of help. as regards food, I have been able to cut off tea and some other sugar, my health made it easy for me, if you suffer on a health issues but you determine to live, then that might be easy to do.

Praying more won’t be something you ever regret, so it’s a positive thing that you know you know you need to do it more often. I like Hillsong too.
