Do You Wear Watches?

Do you wear a watch? Not a fitbit or Apple, but a regular watch to tell time? With cell phones so handy and the date and time on the main screen so we don't forget, not many wear them anymore. I was given a brand-new watch in some craft jewelry. (See photo.) Still had the tag and really pretty. It's a cheap watch but I like it. I decided to wear it. I haven't worn a watch in years due to fit on my arthritic wrist. This has a stretchy band. I'll see how long it lasts before I donate it. I just donated a nice Relic, Fossil, Seiko, Sarah Coventry, and Kenneth Cole. Yet, I'm wearing the cheap one. How do you tell the time while out and about?

I have a Seiko. I've had it for years. I feel lost without it, which usually happens when I need a new battery. I'm always looking at my watch. I don't use my phone for the time. I do look at my computer for the time almost as much as I look at my watch. I've noticed the older generation, of which I'm a part, wears watches.

I think since lockdown I have not worn a watch. While going to office daily I would always wear one. Then lockdown came and after that I was working from home and now am retired so my watch is lying in the cupboard.

@mayka123 That makes sense not to need one now. I'm retired but don't like carrying my phone to the garden or on walks around my son's property.

I stopped wearing regular watches years ago and relied on my cell phone. Now I wear a FitBit.

Yes, I wear a watch. I have two of them exactly alike. One is set for Daylight Savings time and the other isn't. I forget I can check my phone for the time and date.

I have a couple men's watches that I love their looks so might have batteries put in. I need to wear them before I go to that trouble since having something on my wrist now bugs me.

@noni1959 I have to get new watches once a year or year and a half. I ruin them because I have too much electricity in my body and the watches will either start running fast or will just die and new batteries won't fix them.

@DaddyEvil Wow I never knew that could happen. I wore the watch again today but lasted maybe an hour. Maybe I have the wrong type.

I can not remember the last time I wore an actual watch. I always have my mobile phone with me when I head out and I use that for the time so never really needed to wear a watch since if I am honest.

@Treborika Have you ever owned a smartwatch? My mum has one and she loves it and I have often debated on whether I would like to get one as well as I love how much you can do with them. May be my next option so that I do not always have to have my phone out to check things such as the time :)

I received several watches as gifts and cannot wear any of them. I like pendant watches and my BFF sent me one but I can't wear one. Something about my body chemistry. They won't run.

@celticeagle so interesting your body won't allow pendants or otherwise to run. I have a very old vintage wind up I may put on a chain. Have you tried a wind up?

I have a smart watch. I don't use regular watches because I prefer to be as hands-free as possible. I rely on my hands to do a lot of things.

Though I never leave without a phone, I still love wearing watches. I have favorite pieces from Philip Stein, Rado and Techno Marine. But on a daily basis, I wear my Apple Watch.

@noni1959 My Rado watch is an old one with diamonds in it. It was my mom's. Philip Stein is quite famous for having that technology that helps people sleep better. It uses an expensive glass for its watch and the leather straps are interchangeable, some mare crocodile leather.

As everybody was saying how a smartphone can replace a watch I stopped wearing. After one week I went back to my great wrist watch. I can look at the time even while I am washing the dishes, do this with a smartphone.

@noni1959 - When we walk, often my husband asks "which time is it?". I look at my wrist and I answer. When I decided only to bring my phone I had to stop, open my bag, take out my phone and look. Often I told him to wait to listen to the bells.

@LadyDuck I haven't owned a smartwatch so was debating. Think a regular watch is better. I just need to find the right one that won't bug me or cause issues.

I have a watch with a stretchy band. And I have another 4 or 5 watches, all quite cheap, but they all need new batteries. This one is really easy to slip on and off so that's the one I wear most.

I don't wear a watch. I'm allergic to metal so the metal back and buckle cause a skin rash. I have my trusty android phone to give me the time if I need to know what time it is.

I use my phone a lot as well. I hate to carry it down to the garden at my son's or on a walk by the river. It just seems to be the norm now to rely on.
