I need some stories about a doctor’s incompetence to make myself feel better about my constant problems with one of my current doctors. No, I can’t switch this one. My only other option won’t take my case because he only offers holistic services, and doesn’t think his services would be of help to me. I tried him first. I actually admire his honesty although his rejection of my case really shocked me. I figured if you were doing holistic medicine, you thought you could help everyone. Apparently, not with my ornery back and neck (car wreck decades ago).
Okay, people, tell me the stories.

Yes, and the surgeons told me to wait as long as I could for (this) surgery because it would likely not work. I didn’t think the holistic doctor had a chance in heck of helping me; they weren’t my choice. I’m obligated to go to who they refer me to, and they referred me to the holistic people first. I’m not aggravated at them; I’m aggravated at the doctor I’m seeing instead of them.

Okay, I have read through a little of this. I will address your question about after care. It is not unusual, even for someone as young as you are, to be sent to a rehab facility after surgery, for as long as the insurance will cover. What about the doctor that did your dad's surgery? Will your insurance allow you to see that doctor? Do you want me to ask my brother who his pain doctor and back doctor are for you? It might involve you going to Edmond.

That’s a good idea to ask my dad. Everyone said he was the best. And yes, please ask your brother about his pain management and doctor. Maybe my insurance will cover one of those. I can’t drive that far myself, but my dad might be willing to take me. Thank you, Heather!

At my doctor's office, it took 3 staff members to get my BP right. Plus they lost my bloodwork...good thing they are cheap, they are not exactly confidence inspiring!

@snowy22315 The two neurosurgeons I went to came highly recommended. I took their advice because I know two people who had the same surgery, and it didn’t work for them either. But I’m willing to try a third as I just made an appointment a few minutes ago to set up another referral. Surely a third will have something different to add.
I got so desperate I bought a cheap acupuncture machine!
I was reaching all over myself trying to attach electrodes! It was quite a sight!

It sounds like you maybe need to find a neurosurgeon who has a good track record, and thinks they can help you. A surgeon saying I don't think I can help you gives you no hope. I am sure you could go to a rehab center for awhile until you are back on your feet. Valerie did.

You mean like my last doctor who let my BP run out of control for two years before we switched doctors? And it took the new doctor two weeks to have my BP under control. We didn't realize how bad the previous doctor had been!

@DaddyEvil Wow. Did you confront the doctor about it?

@AmbiePam I hope she hasn't, too. She was my doctor for over 20 years when Pretty started telling me the doctor didn't care anymore. I didn't believe her at first but finally had to agree after the doctor gave me a med for diabetes but never checked on me for over a month. By the time she had time to check on me, my kidneys were shutting down. My kidneys still aren't functioning at 100%, all because of a medication I shouldn't have been taking.

With our old insurance, we had to call and get approval for emergency visits. My husband had a chemical burn from cleaning something at work. We called. Doc said no emergency visits would be allowed and further advised him not to even make a doctor's appointment.
We finally did anyway because of pain and infection. It took weeks of almost daily dressing changes and antibiotics to heal it enough to stand it.

@AmbiePam Nothing happened to the doctor. He led a charmed life, I guess. I think the insurance hired the doctors to keep people away from services. The nurse was appalled when she saw this injury. I hope they censored him or put something on his record.

Yes he probably feels it would not be enough..now that is saying a lot because your pain must be immense and beyond holistic treatments.
Yeah even your insurance may not pay for that either.
Well you know I understand about doctors and the system.
Although my present doctor is not so bad, he is still a dedicated system cronie.
So a lot of the time, I have to find my own solutions.
It seems they either want to not give you what you need or over medicate.
I am sorry your doc is so inept..or is it his helpers there that are not calling the script in?

Perhaps he knows his limitations & feels you would get better treatment from another specialist. I know l was often asked to review patients outside my own sphere of expertise sometimes l could recommend treatment & other times I could be of no help. Good luck with your treatment l hope you get whatever help you are seeking!

I would hope he’d just tell me that, but I assume I’ll get answers when I go their office and ask them in person on Monday. It seems unprofessional, and I’d like to think this is just a really unfortunate misunderstanding since they never struck me as unprofessional people.
Thank you for the good wishes.

I'm looking into getting a new doctor because of his ineptness. I saw him last week for my wellness exam. Now, with the previous home nurse visit from the insurance company, I thought he would have the information from her and would discuss it with me. If he had it, he said nothing. My last blood panel and the blood sample she stole from me showed I am pre-diabetic. I would think that would be a flag for him to address. Apparently not. This is the same doctor who said, "I know" when I told him I had lymphedema when my orthopedic doctor gave me that diagnosis, and the therapist told me I'm to wear compression socks and leggings from now on. He knew and didn't tell me. He's also the one who recommended the wrong diet for me that added 20 pounds instead of subtracting them. He also told me to limit my salt intake, after I told him a couple of years ago that I no longer add salt to my diet and haven't done so since I broke my right ankle.
Yeah, you asked for the stories. Now, I'm looking for a new doctor in the same health system where I have my gastro doctor. Right when I find one that looks good, the health system gets hacked, and no one can get into the phone or Internet system. I couldn't make my next appointment yesterday when I was at the hospital. I need to pay attention to the news and the Internet so I can make the appointment as soon as possible.

Yes, that is maddening. You had talked about some of that, but all of it together is one stinking disaster! There are some online websites that let people review doctors. Have you thought about writing a review of your experience? It might save someone some trauma. I did it once, and I just laid out the facts. I figured it might help someone else out.

I have herniated disks in my neck. I had two years of therapy. A couple of doctors advised me to get the surgery and one doctor advised against it. They all told me the surgery is never one hundred percent successful . I didn’t have the surgery. I have;trouble turning my head and looking up but I do very well.

My vertebral column got bent near the hip years ago during my pregnancy, I went for a physiotherapy when I wasn't 35 and now I keep the pain in control through yoga.

I am sorry for what you are going through with the doctors...that's awful. I can't think of any stories myself at the moment. If I can, I will have to come back.

@AmbiePam I guess I have had issues where the communication between doctors, pharmacies and insurance are concerned....but with just doctors themselves, nothing to think of

Well, afraid I don't have any--except I'm told that when I had surgery at six years old my regular neurosurgeon wasn't there, and the one who did what he was supposed to do did something wrong, and when my regular neurosurgeon came back he was steamed!

Years ago I got a letter from a doctors office telling me that my pap smear results were bad and that I needed to come back right away. I was so baffled. I had recently seen this doctor, but he most certainly didn’t perform a pap smear on me.
I never saw that doctor again.

Sorry, I have no such stories. Try this
Going to the hospital can be a memorable moment for anyone, but it's rare that a doctor has a patient that they'll never forget. These medical tales from the emergency room, doctor's office and surgeon's table are enough to make anyone try their best to ne

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this doctor. I can't add anything other than what other people have said. I really hope you can find help and hopefully another doctor.
