That Makes Me Mad

So, I decided to make hamburgers tonight. But as is habit with me, I did not take the ground beef out to thaw, instead electing to quick thaw it in the microwave, which 99.9% of the time works out just fine. This would be that percentage of the time it did not work out just fine. Obviously, based on the picture, my ground beef is nearly browned and there is no way to make this into hamburger patties. I had some evaporated milk left from yesterday's dinner, so I decided to bring out a Knorr alfredo thingamabobber. I will cook that up, finish browing the beef, add onions, and just make an entirely different dish. I guess on the plus side I am resourceful and can fix the problem. But, man, I really wanted hamburgers tonight. The next time I will just take the ground beef out to thaw the old fashioned way.

I cannot even fathom ground beef with alfredo sauce. You continue to find new ways to disgust me.

Did it ever occur to you that you simply have no imagination? There is a reason some people invent things and others simply use what is invented. You are a user. Not a creator.

@porwest I agree that I'm not creative. That's why I studied science and not art or literature. I also have decent standards for what I will eat.

@NJChicaa You would not know good food if it bit you in the face. You are black and white. No middle ground. No thinking outside the box. Therefore, you miss out on so much. There's a world out there, my friend. You should explore it.

The next time you buy ground beef, take one package and make hamburger patties. Then freeze them, you can take out what number you want to cook, and they take about 15 minutes to thaw. I always have a few ready to grab, if one of the family stops by and wants a burger instead of anything else. A bit of prep saves a lot of work later.

I usually do that, but had none premade on hand. I usually don't even bother to thaw them. Most of the time if I just throw them on the grill frozen they cook just fine. I put them between wax paper so they don't stick together and I can easily separate them.

@porwest I do the same thing. They do cook just fine on the grill, so good.

That's something I would do. I'm not exactly the greatest cook. I probably would have taken that cooked ground beef and made a shepherd's pie with it.

Shepherd's pie is very good, but it would have taken too long to put together and make.

I'm sorry you couldn't have hamburgers. I'm sure what you made was good.

@porwest Those are sometimes the best concoctions.

It turned out better than I expected, especially considering what I made was an "in a pinch" concoction. lol

It worked out well enough. I like to think I am pretty creative in the kitchen, although some people might call some of my concoctions vile. As long as my wife and I are both satisfied with how things turn out, I guess that's all that matters. Not like I plan on opening a restaurant any time soon. lol

I hate when I do that. But can usually figure out something to fix with it

Invariably I've overcooked Burger in the microwave many times while trying to thaw it out. So, I try to remember to set a timer for a portion of the time just in case.

Ground beef seems to take forever to thaw. I wonder why that is.

I don't know actually. Usually if I take it out the night before it's good by the time I want to use it. I always forget to take meat out though, and usually using the defrost feature on the microwave is never a problem. Obviously this particular time, it was.

Wow! Did you cook it by accident instead of doing defrost? What’s a thingamabobber?

No. That's the thing. It was just set on defrost. But there was no way I was going to be able to make hamburgers out of that mess. lol. A thingamabobber is just a word for something you don't have a word for. Like a whatchamacallit.

That stinks that it happened that way, but good you could still use the meat in some way. I never thought to thaw it out in the microwave, but good to know that can happen

That is sad, but you can fix it i guess, i believe the creativity you possess, anyway you can find a lot ways how to fix it. I love burgers but so scared to make burgers on my own, im sure its a big fail. So i rather buy ready to eat burgers.
