A blast from the past - showcasing Hercules

My husband came across this in our photo files while searching for something else. I’d forgotten all about it but I can never miss a chance to show off our pet sheep, Hercules. Many of my myLot friends will remember my various posts about him. In this clip, we are loading him, or rather he is loading himself, into the trailer so we can take him to get shorn. Hercules was a rescue sheep and a beautiful, gentle soul. I hope you enjoy the clip but you might have to cut and paste the link. I don't know how else to include it. Uh oh, it seems to have sorted itself out. lol

@JudyEv I can tell that he is. It is also the same thing for my Cooper dog.

I remember about Hercules. He seems to have no tantrums around a haircut as others would have. He happily jumped himself in the tractor. Or maybe he enjoyed going out. Congratulations!! Australia won the World Cup title for the sixth time

I watched the cricket and felt for the Indian players and supporters. They would have been so disappointed. However, of course I was pleased that Australia won.

@JudyEv It was the better team yesterday on the ground and it deserved the win. That's what sports is about. You past and journey matter but the result is always the performance on the present ground.

@rebelann Thanks. When we went to collect him, the guy just picked him up by the skin on his back and dumped him in the trailer. I should have hit him but I was too dumbfounded.

@JudyEv I wish I could get away with that! Right now I haven't had my hair cut since January 2021 and it needs a trim. Let me see if I can post the picture Pretty took of my hair in September. Photo is mine.

I am guessing that he was a bit thinner after his 'haircut'. Does look like he knows the routine

In actual fact, most of my pet sheep were much the same which always surprised me. Here is one that escaped from somewhere into the bush but eventually ended up with us. She had several years worth of wool on her. I'm sure she would have noticed the difference.

@Ronrybs If she laid down, her fleece looked like a ballerina's tutu all laid out around her.

I remember Hercules. I think I told you a couple of times about some friends who bottle raised a sheep, but when he became an adult he started head butting people. He retired on a farm somewhere. His head butting got a bit annoying.

Maybe they didn't castrate him if it was a ram. It's important too not to tease them when they're young. Butting is funny when they're little but loses its charm once they're fully grown. Like many pets, except cats of course, they need to know who is boss.

Oh Herc. He was my favorite myLot pet friend to read about in posts. And to see a picture of you with him amongst the lighting materials that you had for the music shack where you had lots of fun gatherings. Good memories, thank you for starting my day off with one of those.

It's hard to know what to do with old photos. No need to do anything with them I guess. Someone else will throw them out when we're gone.

@JudyEv Some yes, others might make rounds. I suppose the advantage of the Internet is that many of our private photos become public and some might survive long after we are gone. You never know, someone 100 years from now might be eyeballing Hercules.

I have often wondered about having a sheep of my own, or even a goat or two. He was a very well trained passenger.

Sheep are probably easier to manage than goats although goats are very affectionate and entertaining. You need good fences if you want to have goats.

He was the ideal pet in a way. Very low maintenance really. If I could have house-trained him, I would have had him in the house with me. lol
