It Was a Terrible Success

How could anything successful be terrible? If you have been following me, I recently wrote about my trip to Trader Joe's and the fact that the store really did not impress me, as I strongly suspected it wouldn't. Still, I did pick up a couple of items. All said I spent about $35 and $8 of that was on an insulated grocery tote bag. So, it was a trip short on food purchases. But I did buy a bag of Mandarin orange chicken which looked like it would be good. The options to cook it were in the oven, baked. In a skillet. Or in the microwave. I thought, if I can cook it in a skillet, I can surely cook it in the wok. So, that's what I decided to do. Cooked from frozen it cooked up perfectly. I only added in some broccoli for good measure. I have to say, with the sauce packets that came with it, it turned out better than I would have ever expected. It was super flavorful, and the chicken was crispy. I'd give it very high marks in every aspect honestly. I served it over a hot bed of freshly cooked white rice. It was awesome and now I am going to have to go back to get some more. I will likely get three or four bags and put this in the chest freezer downstairs. It was so easy to make and was delicious. What went on your dinner table last night?

So what was terrible lol? Looks like the food came out great. Except seems not enough rice lol. I love their Mandarin orange chicken. I sometimes also buy their frozen teriyaki chicken, and chicken with shiitake mushrooms. Really good.

What was terrible is that I don't like Trader Joe's but because I like THIS product, I will have to go there to replace it. Although, I MAY see if I can find a similar product elsewhere and get an equally tasty result, maybe even at a lower cost. I will be on the hunt now. The next time I at Trader Joe's I might check out some of the other options. It's definitely cheaper than ordering out for Chinese.

@porwest I am not sure if it was orange chicken or sesame chicken but one or the other I got at Lidl once and I have to say Trader Joe's one is better.

@lovebuglena I am definitely going to see if I can find a similar product at Ruler or Aldi or even Walmart.

That Orange Chicken used to be one of my staples. I should back to it. I also like TJ's frozen Indian food.

I was actually surprised how good it was. I wouldn't have expected the chicken to be so crispy, but it was definitely good.

That sounds really good. I have never made a cauliflower soup, but that would be something to definitely add to my list.

From a can or cooked as a filet? Either way, tuna is good.

I made homemade bread and what we call “” Grandma’s Goulash “”we also had a green salad. I don’t make that goulash very often because I like it too much! Now I’m hungry for some orange chicken.

I had some shrimp for dinner last night & well that was a NO NO cause it spiked my sugar to 300 so I know better not to eat that any more & I LOVE shrimp so I have to put that on my no-no list.

Yikes. Well, at least you enjoyed it, I guess, even if it had consequences.
