4/9/24 - Update on My Husband

The Admissions Director is on vacation for a few days; but I'm not going to let that stop me. There is someone handling her work; so I will find out from him what the preferred way to send a Referral is...then I will call the Social Worker at the current facility and let her know that the Referral wasn't received; and she needs to resend it either by fax or email (whatever Admissions prefers). Hubs called me very late last night. He said his walking while supported went much better yesterday. I have a feeling he will be gone at least another month! He's already been gone for 9 weeks. His roommate turns the TV way up because he can't hear; and then he falls asleep. This keeps my husband from being able to sleep. I told him to press the call button and have a nurse turn it down. He said that the food hasn't been too bad lately; but it still leaves much to be desired. I will be going to see him tomorrow; and our housekeeper's mother is taking me. She is a piece of work; but I will just have to endure her. One of the MyLot members offered to come up here and take me to see my husband, etc. MyLot has some wonderful people, doesn't it? I will always be truly grateful. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I tend to agree with you that current facility is dragging their feet to keep that money coming in. Such a shame that you have to deal with all this nonsense in addition to the stress of not having your hubby home. It's good to hear that he's improving and hopefully he'll be home soon and all this stress will be over. I know how much you're looking forward to seeing your hubby and him seeing you. That was so kind of a myLotter to offer to take you.

@LindaOHio I can imagine that it's really lonely without him. I'm happy that my daughter lives with me and I would be able to live by myself but I enjoy the company.

@LindaOHio I am hoping it works out and you can set up some regular days for visiting and she will take you there, at least until the other cousin has a car and can take you. Surely between the two of them, they can figure out a way to get you there more often! Once a week isn't enough, I know, for either of you.

@LindaOHio They should know not to do that. I remember when my Great Aunt was briefly in a nursing home, she was complaining about people coming into her room all the time. She was especially concerned about one of the residents who she accused of taking stuff. I am not quite sure she was in her right mind at the time, but someone did try to come in while we were there...so I guess she had a legit problem.

Why can't he go into a room by his self? they made SURE I was put in a room by myself from day 1. I'd see if you could get him in a private room IF his ins will cover it that is, I hope it does cause that would be a GOOD way to help him sleep & to get better sooner.

Hospitals don’t have shared rooms anymore because of HIPPA privacy laws. I don’t know WHY that doesn’t also apply to rehab facilities. You don’t want to hear about your roommate’s urinary tract infect and you don’t want them hearing about your colon polyps.

I don't know of any private rooms there. A private room would most likely cost us more too.

@FourWalls I know that's right, I had 1 shared room but that didn't last very long thank God for that.

Well someone has to be covering for the one on vacation! It doesn't shut the place down when someone goes on vacation. I hope you can get it all sorted out ASAP! I am glad you are getting to visit!! Maybe you can stick your head in a couple of doors there and inquire about the transfer and how slow it is taking.

He'll be home before it's all straightened out. At least that's what it feels like. There should be someone you could complain to that would get the ball moving in the direction it needs to go. The Admissions Director wasn't on vacation when you started this process, but he/she is conveniently on vacation now. I hope you get it sorted out soon. I'm praying. I'm glad you will see your husband tomorrow.

How wonderful that a mylotter volunteered to help you out. Hey, maybe you should consider that, you wouldn't be all by yourself and it might give you a great boost! If I were closer, I surely would try to help out, at least with meals so you had some variety! Hang in there...light is shining at the end of that tunnel, Linda!

@LindaOHio I wish that things were easier for you and your husband. If people offer to help you, take full advantage of that. I have had friends help me and I know it means so much. I pay it forward when I am able to. Sometimes it’s hard for me to accept help, I surely do understand that. We just can’t put a price on people helping people.

@LindaOHio No problem, that's what friends are for, right? I can understand that. I know it is worse with what you are dealing with - I just know here when we are told a referral is sent it never seems to happen. still waiting on one to make an appointment for my son's EEG this fall.
