4/30/24 - Update on My Husband

My husband is very happy with his progress. He is walking with a walker and went further than he's gone in the past. Someone always follows him with a chair in case he needs to sit down. There has been no talk of doing stairs yet. They need to turn the AC on since the rooms are extremely hot. I finally broke down and turned ours on last night. The Business Office said that it will take 4 weeks to get our money back because the Corporate Office is off for Passover. I said, "So you wanted the check in 3 days; but we have to wait for 4 weeks to get our money back?" I knew this would happen. I wonder if we get interest on our money? I doubt it. Tomorrow is the meeting with the Social Worker. That should be a hoot. Fortunately it should only last for 15 minutes. Hubby is still having trouble with both arms. The one was swollen when he was in the hospital; and he had multiple IVs in both arms. I have a feeling his tingling, etc. is from the IVs. Maybe they nicked a nerve. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

His strength must be back if he is able to walk greater distances, I hope that he can continue to do that and maybe master the stairs later on this week.

Felt good to read the first part of the post. All the best with the social worker, and getting back the money. I don't think it is nerve...kinda how can he hold the walker then...

Closed for Passover? Great. Passover ends tonight, so why will that take four weeks? Good for you reminding them of how fast you had to be!!!

@LindaOHio — and you’re only required to NOT work on two days of Passover: the first and the last. So what’s the hold-up? “No bread means no work from me”??

@FourWalls They are just using it as an excuse. Our insurance company said that we will be paying $203 per day now for hubby's stay. I hope he gets out soon.

@RasmaSandra Yes, it was a good visit; but my husband looks so gaunt. His cheeks are sunken and he looks 10 years older. He's lost over 50 pounds.

Swelling is quite common when it comes to things like that. They were watching for swelling in George's right arm because it was immoble. However, he lucked out on that front. At least he seems in good spirts, and he's walking a little more.

I am glad that your husband is making progress. Should they had nicked a nerve he should also feel pain. I wonder what is the problem with his hands. His problem can be caused by loss of muscle mass.

@LindaOHio The physiotherapist should have an idea what is the problem. Considering that the problem is in both hands, it cannot be a nerve touched by a needle.

That's good he is making progress...hope that will continue. Sorry about his arms, could be... And that stinks that they want the money fast but will take their sweet time returning it.

You should insist on them paying interest. If you were late paying them, they'd certainly charge you interest. And by the way, according to the calendar on my fridge, Passover ends today.

That certainly sounds like a lame excuse having to wait 4 weeks for your refund. They probably want to collect interest on your money before they have to return it. That's good new that your hubby is happy with his progress. It certainly sounds more optimistic than it did weeks ago.

Yes, it's just an excuse. We will owe $203 per day now that the 20th day has passed. When they want that money, I will tell them that they are holding a $9,000 refund.

Progress! You can't put a little ramp at the front of your house? Good luck with that Social Worker meeting.

No. A ramp wouldn't work. He needs to have the strength to walk up 3 steps. Thanks. The SW and I may come to blows! lololol
