Appointments, appointments and more appointments

My husband had open heart surgery five weeks ago. We were warned about lots of things including the fact that he’d tire easily. We went to visit his sister a few days ago. It was a half-hour drive each way and we stayed about an hour or so. I drove but when we got home at about 4.30pm, Vince went for a nap and was still asleep at 6pm when the phone woke him.
He is now allowed to drive so that’s another step forward. Today he will have an X-ray ready to take to the heart surgeon when he goes for a check-up. I am having a bone density test and in the afternoon, we go to the doctor for a blood test. Tomorrow he goes to the dentist. You can tell we’re officially ‘elderly’ by the number of appointments we have!

I hate all the appointments and tests we have to go through. I'm glad Vince can drive now. Baby steps toward his full recovery. I don't know when my husband will be able to drive. Hope all your appointments and tests go well. LOVE the photo! Have a good day.

Look at you hippies!!! 
I guess I’m not “elderly” because I’m actually getting fewer appointments. Not that I’m complaining! I give God the glory, because I don’t like sitting in a doctor’s office!

@JudyEv — I take my tablet in when I have two appointments at the VA, because they have WiFi and I can myLot there.

I can relate to all the medical appointments, but glad he's recovering. His stamina will improve.

He is doing really well all things considering. Doesn't need me to do anything for him now although I'm still doing the driving. He has even cooked a couple of meals so he must be feeling okay. He says he likes cooking but it's beyond me!

It's good to hear that he is able to get out and about, and now to drive. I know from caring for a family member in the past, it is not easy to recover from open heart surgery, and it just takes a lot of rest and time as well.
I love the picture of Judy and Vince, the ''cool'' hippies!

We often say what used to smell of perfumes the bedroom now smells of all kinds of pain relieving geks (lol) - a sign that we are all getting old.

@judyev I’m not looking forward the endless round of doctor visits starting for me. My parents were most careful about attending, making great effort to get ready and be at each appointment early. Often the appointments were just a quick chat to see how they were which was most irritating. I might turn out to be one of those old people who bin all official letters and let nature take its course. I hope your appointments all work out fine.

You get a bit trapped into attending such appointments, especially with something like heart problems and cancer issues. I don't really know what is the point of the bone density test for me. What can they do if I have osteoporosis? I get a bit cynical about some of the tests being a way of getting money from Medicare as most of them don't impact on us financially.
