7/31/24 - Update On My Husband

Well, here we are, the last day of the month. The rehab facility will be billing us for another month @ $300 per day. This is turning into a nightmare.
Hubby didn't call me last night; and I had a couple of things to discuss with him.
The woman from Medical Records never called me back even though I left 2 messages. August 2 is the last day that the judge's team will accept the physical therapy records. My husband's 2nd cousin said she would go there today and see what's going on.
I found a good grab bar online at Walmart which would be perfect for the shower. A MyLotter suggested putting it in the shower vertically since the shower is so small. That would work because it could be installed towards the front and would not hinder movement in the shower. Angi is offering an installation fee of $59 by checking off a box. That would solve having to look for a handyman to make installation.
Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts.

When will he be able to return home? And I really hope you can get your money refunded.

I'm glad you found a grab bar, as well as a practical way to install it in the shower. Sorry to hear the billing issue hasn't been resolved yet, but keeping my fingers crossed that you can get a ruling in your favor.

@LindaOHio So probably early next week? I doubt they'll issue a ruling over the weekend.

@moffittjc It will take a while She must go through two big stacks of physical therapy records. They were guaranteed to be there by 6 pm yesterday; but as of this morning they still weren't there. I will call on Monday morning and see if they will still accept them.

The Medical Records lady called this morning. Authorization has not been received from the parent company yet so they can release the records. Sigh.

@snowy22315 I doubt they would release it or even know it. The PT guys would know it.

I wouldn’t pay them by the month anymore, I’d pay them by the week, since he’s “so close to getting out.” You know how long it’ll take you to get unused money back.

@FourWalls You've probably already read that he's in the hospital with his AFIB; but now he has COVID. Does it ever end???

I recently had grab bars installed in my shower and it makes a huge difference. Putting one in vertically sounds like a good idea.
Hope you get those records and can get them off in time. Hope you hear from your hubby today.
Did the guys ever finish your steps and railings?

@LindaOHio I'm so happy that you got the records and will have them submitted by the due date. I'm sure you'll be happy when your hubby gets home and you no longer have to deal with all those incompetent people at that facility.

@Marilynda1225 For sure. It's going to be a while until he can come home because in addition to his AFIB, he has COVID.

They're all done except for the railings on the bottom steps. The records are ready to send Priority Express overnight service.

@LindaOHio Don't stop fighting for it, though. You never know. I will tell you one thing, rather than forgiving student loans, helping seniors going through things like this MAY have been a better use of funds, even if I support neither. But if you are going to do one thing, you may as well help people who REALLY need the help.

Sounds like a very stressful time, I am sorry to hear about all of that...
Hopefully they can help you there instead of having to look for a handyman

I apologize if I came off as being pushy about grab bars. I just don't want you or your hubby to crash and hurt yourself in the bathroom. Such hard surfaces there. I hope your grab bar is NOT one of those suction cup gizmos. I don't understand why those are legal.

No, it will be installed with screws. You weren't being pushy...just concerned.
