Now I know where all the towels and sheets were

We have a caravan and, as you might expect, it is fitted out like a mini-house. We intend to sell it and our four-wheel drive and downsize to a motor-home which I’d be able to drive and which wouldn’t be such a big unit. There is storage under the bed of the caravan and I had extra bed linen and towels there, among other things. I wondered why I seemed short of sheets and towels in the house and now I know why. I’d forgotten how much extra stuff I had under that bed. Now I have to find room for it in our house. At the moment, it’s all getting washed. There are also pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, cleaning materials to find new homes for. Some will go in plastic tubs until we get our new unit and fit it out. The photo is of the motor-home we had in Ireland. We spent a total of 8 months in it and toured Ireland, Britain, France, Germany, and Austria.

It happens, I wondered where my bed sheets had gone until I found a luggage still not opened and there they were.

@JudyEv - I bought too many double things when we bought this house as a "vacation home". I am now trying to get rid of everything we do not need anymore.

I could never remember what I had in the caravan and what I needed to take so I'd end up with double amounts of things or none at all. lol

We will choose a motor-home that only needs a car licence. It will be easier to drive and to park. We are looking forward to finding one we like.

I know that feeling. I was wondering where a jacket had vanished to, and when I took the winter emergency bag out of my car I found it! Have you started seriously searching for a new caravan or just in the planning stages?

@JudyEv — I would imagine this is a bad time of year to buy them, with spring and the start of vacationing time in Australia.

@FourWalls Possibly but it's a good time to sell. Always the way, isn't it?

Hope you find the motor home you're looking for. It sounds like it would make more sense to downsize especially that you will be able to drive it too. Finding those sheets and towels was good but weeding through all the caravan stuff and deciding what to keep and what to get rid of is a project to keep you busy

@JudyEv you're so right. Now we're at the stage where we need less and downsize

That's kind of how we think of our camper, which is a 39' pull behind trailer. But we've sort of "doubled up," so most of what's in the camper is exclusive to the camper.

We've doubled up too but it did leave me a bit short of sheets. Now it's all got to come home till we get a motor-home.

@porwest We went to a couple of yards yesterday but there are very few around in our price range. Thankfully, we're not in a hurry.

Thanks. The sheets aren't much use to me as they're for a double bed and both ours are now queen size. The new motor-home might have a double bed when we get it so I'll hang on to the sheets for the moment.

The bed that I have now has storage space but there is nothing in there at the moment Travelling to so many countries in your motor home is unbelievable . Great feat indeed.

We bought the motor-home in Ireland. On our last trip we put a small cut in the side and the insurance company wrote the vehicle off (long story). We used it up until the last day and we got all our money back on the insurance. Otherwise, we would have sold it over there.

Yeah, I think a motor-home would be easier to drive and park. You had a fantastic tour back then, I would love to have such an experience. But I need to find someone to travel with, and a motor-home. That comes second. Well, I guess it could be rented too if it's for a short period of time.
