I made a decision

With the state of the economy it has been said that if you have a job you should keep it. My employer--the Special Education Co operative--came out with their continuing employment survey, to plan for next year. I asked for half time at my position for next year. I am pretty sure that I can get the hours I want in one program or another, but I would really like to stay in the program I am in, and my lead teacher thinks we could do it. Nothing is decided yet, of course. On another front, we had an actual visit with the school and classroom where my student will be going. I talked with some of the paraprofessionals there, and they had some questions about how to best work with him. I was very satisfied with the outcome. Ellen went as well, and of course had different questions. We will spend the next six weeks working on that transition, but let us just say I am relieved.

That sounds like a good solution to cut your hours. Good luck keeping your same position. I wouldn't think that would be a problem. That sounds like a relief indeed! I hope your student does well with the new school.

I hope you are able to keep the same position next year. It's nice that the place where your student is going to be going is so workable.

I am sure you put a lot of thought into that decision. You have a lot on your plate, and it's good that you are cutting back to have more time at home. It sounds like your student will be well taken care of, too.

Oh, that sounds very positive, Heather. I’ so glad it looks like he’ll be getting the support he needs. I’m glad you decided you could afford to work half the amount of time next school year. You could use less stress.

I'm glad you asked about scaling back your hours, at least. I know you still need the job, though, or some job to help with bills. I hope it all works out for you. I hope the other paras will take good care of your student. I'm sure they'll try... Maybe not as good as you did, but still... Enjoy your day at work.
