My housekeeper only stayed an hour yesterday because she had Cinco de Mayo party plans. In the afternoon a guy came from the roofing company to give me an estimate on doing various things around the house. It was a lot more than I would have imagined; but it is what it is...The things must be done. Today the woman from the headstone place will be coming to help me design my husband's and my headstone. The site was down this morning; so I'm getting a late start. Don't know how much I will get done. What are you doing today? Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Chicken Cordon Bleu, mashed potatoes, corn, pears Dessert/Snack - Banana walnut muffin Dinner - Turkey/cheddar sandwich and Cheetos What did you eat yesterday? I had a new server at Chuy’s yesterday, so I got too much food with my chicken taco. So it was lunch and dinner. Added Laughing Cow soft cheese and apples and yogurt and fiber! Do you have handyman or “rent-a-husband” services in your area?

Yes. I look up handymen, etc. on the BBB website.

Ideally how many hours per week would you need a housekeeper, errand runner helper? You need a situation where you are the boss.

Not counting appointments, etc., I would think maybe 5 hours a week. It depends. I want to go through everything in each room, basement and garage; and I don't know if a stranger would be acceptable for that.

I hope everything works out for you. I'm not feeling my best today so I'm staying in bed.

I couldn't get on the site yesterday morning, and it seems to be a frequent thing I experience in the mornings (which is when I usually spend the most of my time on myLot). I hope your housekeeper enjoyed celebrating Cinco de Mayo. I know I had a really good time last night!

Yes, the wee hours of the morning are when I can't get on. I doubt she will share her activities with me.

I'd never heard of Cinco de Mayo before I joined myLot. It's not recognised here - not that I know of anyway.

@LindaOHio It doesn't need much of an excuse for people to drink.

I suspect the man quoting you MIGHT be giving you "elderly widow pricing," but I could be wrong. For dinner I made a marinated pork loin and we had macaroni and cheese on the side. Skipped a veggie this time.

I paid mega bucks to them for the roof. He seemed to think that it was a good estimate considering I was a past customer.

Yesterday I made Stir fry. I also had part of a sticky bun, and avocado toast. Everything is so expensive these days, but no choice in a lot of matters.

Sorry to hear that the estimate for the things you need done is more than you expected. Everything just seems so expensive these days. Last night we had burgers and sweet potato fries.

I'm glad you have those Meals. Supper last night was fake chicken, home yeasty flat bread, peas. Thawed cherries and a home butter cooky.

@LindaOHio Good question. This one had jackfruit in it along with other things like canola oil. Oh yuck is a good comment from my description. The chunks were actually pretty tasty with a good texture. Anyway, no animal hurt from me eating it.

It sounds like you’ve had a full and emotionally layered couple of days. From the home repairs to the headstone planning, that’s a lot to carry—both practical and personal. I hope the visit with the headstone representative goes as smoothly as possible and that it brings a bit of peace, even in its heaviness. Your meals sound well-balanced too—chicken cordon bleu from Meals on Wheels is pretty fancy! Banana walnut muffins are always a win in my book. As for me, I ate sinampalukang manok. Even though it's summer here, it's soup is everythingggg! What’s something small or nice you’re hoping for this week, even for yourself?

The rough sketches of the headstone look pretty good. Nothing much going on today. Have a good day.
