Coffee and Donuts

No, this isn't about what I had for breakfast, it's about some great deals I scored with coupons and sales. I am by no means as good as April (@thislittlepennyearns), but I'm still pretty proud of myself. Starbucks coffee, which is normally $13.99 a bag, was on sale for $6.00. I had a coupon for $5.00 off, which means I only paid $1.00 for the bag. I'm not a big Starbucks fan, but I couldn't pass up that deal. For the donuts, our local grocery store had a BOGO (buy one get one free) deal on Entenmann's Donuts. The donuts were $5.69 per box, so I got two boxes for $5.69. I had coupons for $2.50 off each box, so that took $5.00 off my total cost. So I ended up only paying $.69 for two boxes of donuts. I'm not one of those extreme couponers by any means, but I do try to keep an eye out for good deals when I can. Have you made out like a bandit lately with some of your coupon deals?

You did a really great job saving money and getting breakfast stuff at such a great price. We don't have coupons here, sometimes you can get digital coupons if you have a loyalty card.

@moffittjc I don't use the apps that you upload your receipts to, I always pay for my purchases with my debit card and I would not want any of that sensitive information online.

@Juliaacv I pay for all my groceries with my credit card (for the reward dollars/points), and then promptly pay off the balance each month. But on the coupon apps, I don't have any personal information saved there other than my PayPal address, which is where they send the money when you cash out.

What about coupon apps, like ibotta, Checkout51 or Upside? You don't actually use the coupons at the grocery store, you upload your receipts and they give you cash based on the coupon value, and when you reach a certain amount of cash in your "bank," you can cash out and they'll send you the money (sort of how myLot works).

Starbucks was a great deal for any kind of coffee. Great on the donuts too

I agree about the Starbucks. I am not a fan of their coffee more because of how expensive it is, and the fact that it really isn't any better than coffee you can buy at half the price. But, when the price is right, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Starbucks coffee. I'm just not going to overpay for it. Are you a coffee drinker, and do you have a favorite brand?

Those were great deals. I can't use coupons when I shop online; but Walmart has been having sales on various items; and I've saved a bit each week.

That's the one thing about online shopping I don't like, but I think in the future they may figure out a way to apply coupons to online purchases.

I'm shocked the price in USA compare to my country when buying donuts. Anyways donuts and coffee are always perfect combination. I like not so sweet donuts though.

Are donuts expensive in your country? I had a friend in the UK that told me their donuts were five times more expensive than our donuts. Generally speaking, our donuts are very cheap.

I use digital coupons almost exclusively now. We used to have a Food Lion here in my city, but I think they closed down.

Thanks! I'm always on the lookout for good deals, but these two I found were exceptionally great deals. I wish I could find more deals like that! haha

Places here don't accept coupons anymore. Pretty uses apps to get money back on different things. Sometimes she'll ask if I want certain items. If I'm interested, we buy them and then she scans our receipt into the apps and they send the money to my PayPal account.

That is almost exclusively how I do my coupon shopping these days, through the apps. It's much easier than trying to use physical coupons at the store.

Sometimes in the coupon apps you can use the coupon for multiple times, most of them will say "limit 2" or "limit 5." I wanted to go back and use the coffee coupon again, but it wasn't on the app anymore, so the offer either expired or it was for one-time use.

Those are good deals for sure. I don't know what the coupon situation is here. I don't hear people talking about them.

I think physical couponing is slowly going away, and almost all of it is becoming digital now. I use several coupon apps for scoring great deals at the grocery store.

Based on nearly every "frugal" post I have read from our dear friend, April, you blew her out of the park with your deals.

Nah, April is the master of discounts and coupons. But I have learned a thing or two from her over the years. And speaking of her, has she been on myLot lately?

You really did make out like a bandit! Coffee seems to go up in price weekly. $1.69 for all of that is a steal!

I don't like the way the price of coffee keeps going up, but I guess my caffeine addiction overrides my desire to pay low prices! lol

Excellent. Right now our store has Starbucks at $6.99, I do not have any coupons to use with it. I usually buy what is on sale. Mostly Maxwell House and Folgers. Sometimes store brand.
