I am Beginning to Wonder

Ever since we have been walking on this new vinyl flooring I continually have times when my Hurry Cane goes out from under me. I have been able to catch myself so far but I worry. I'm afraid of falling and even breaking a bone. I try to place the cane straight down instead of at an angle. That helps but I tend to forget sometimes.
GRRR!!

We have laminate wood flooring in our kitchen and I slip and fall on it a lot... Usually I can catch myself either on a doorframe or on the counter before I hit the floor. I don't like using my cane in the house but I may have to start...
Edit to add: You might want to switch to a quad-cane. They're more stable than a single-footed cane.

I see. I will look into that. It's scary because I have heard many stories of seniors having a fall and they go down hill from there.

@celticeagle I normally worry about falling when I go outside but I'm having to be more careful in the house lately... I'm walking slower across the house, reaching for and holding onto doorframes as I go.

I agree, a quad cane is more stable.

Is "Hurry Cane" your name for it, or a brand? Is there something you can add to the tip to reduce the slipperiness?

@celticeagle I would be scared too. We are old enough it is hard to get spare parts when we fall and get broken.

The brand. Nothing I can add. It is a good cane. Just slips sometimes and scares me.

@celticeagle Better than falling. That would hurt, plus expenses at hospitals. Perhaps you can borrow from someone who no longer needs them.

Yeah them and their dang floors..see now you have to contend with that.
My Mother had a cane like other myLotters are describing here. That pronged cane helped.

My entire apartment came carpeted. I hate this it gathers dust and dirt, I wish I had the entire apartment in linoleum/ Maybe you need some better grip caps or something on your cane,

This one has great grip caps. I just need to be more careful.

I imagine that the vinyl flooring can be a bit slippery so please be careful. You don't need to fall or worse break something. I love my Hurry Cane too

That is what DE was talking about. It's a quad with four.

I have a 4-pronged cane. Maybe you should consider one.
