Oh that smells really good

In Kansas it is summer time. That means high afternoon temperatures. I sure do not want to turn on the oven then, but I had chicken thighs I had marinated. When I got up a little after 6 I turned on the oven, popped the chicken onto a cookie sheet and put it in the oven to bake while I did some of my morning stuff. It smells heavenly. For a fast poultry marinade we often use zesty Italian dressing. I know what we will eat for our meals today, as it is easily warmed up in the microwave. How do you plan ahead for summer meals?

Your chicken sounds delicious and I bet it is delicious. We don't really plan ahead for summer meals. One of us will make a suggestion and we are good togo. We both pretty much like everything the other does so we have plenty on hand to cook with Sandwiches are a summer favourite. Easy, quick, very little washing up

I had been hungry for chicken. Basically the meals are up to me, if we share. Usually that is just the evening meal.

@GardenGerty When we have Chicken it's either drum fillets in a curry, or the whole bird roasted with tatties and other veg and Yorkshire puddings Never do anything else with it

Chicken sounds delicious and I usually run the oven after dark so it doesn't add to the heat in the house. I hope you and Bob enjoy it. We usually eat sandwiches during the summer months. I don't want to add to the electric bill if I can help it, either.

I rarely plan for meals, but just wing it, and lots of meats wind up thawed in the microwave. But it always turns out. During the summer, many of my meals are cooked on the grill.

We have a couple of grills but got out of the habit of using them when Bob was sick. Have you ever cooked pizza on the grill? I hear it is good.

My mom loved to use Italian dressing as a marinade. It sounds so good! I think I’ll do that this week.

We try to cook anything that needs it in the morning hours. It gets hot upstairs after the stove or oven is used. So the A/C upstairs is run for a while. Your poultry sure sounds good.

As the warmer temperatures start arriving we tend to eat lighter meals. I love being able to just throw stuff on the barbecue grill and not have to use the oven at all. (of course my alternatives are always the crockpot and the air fryer).

The Italian dressing sounds like an excellent marinade. I might try that one day.

it is hard when oven is on and outside is boiling. i turn on my fan when cooking or baking; it doesn't help much but it's something.

I can't cook or bake anymore; but Italian salad dressing is always good as a marinade.
