Car is Fixed... Again

The mechanic who originally fixed my car in December came over this morning and started checking to see if he could find any problems... The only thing he could find was the battery was completely dead. The mechanic said it didn't even have a "spark of life" in it anymore.
He took the battery out and got a brand new one and installed it for me, then moved the car and wouldn't take anything for the help. He said to drive it like I normally do and if there's a problem, call him back.
He's a very nice man. I was pleased with his work rebuilding the motor and helping me now.

At least the battery was under warranty, that's good. I'm glad you have a good garage mechanic available to you, that's often a hard thing to find these days.

We have two garages that we call, depending on which one has time to work on our car... Thanks.

Where I used to live, I had a great car repair garage. Finding a good one up here was difficult, I finally did. And happily, it's not far away, that's the best part.

@MarieCoyle It's always nice to find a good garage and have the money to pay them.

@DaddyEvil - We were lucky so far with our batteries. The battery inside our Ford Fiesta (car built in Japan by Mazda) lasted 13 years.

@LadyDuck This is the second Buick LaSabre we've owned and both of them kill batteries within two years. Their batteries are more expensive than the ones that go in other cars here. We pay $200 for them where most car batteries cost $100... We always get the two year warranty with our battery so they're normally covered and we don't buy them after the first one.
When we had a Ford Mustang, the battery for it only lasted two years, too, but it was one of the $100 batteries. We always bought the warranty with them and only paid for the first battery.

He didn't think so... The battery wouldn't hold a charge when he tried to jumpstart it. He just took it out and got a new one and put in.

@GardenGerty Apparently so... I'm glad it broke now instead of waiting another 6 months after the warranty ran out.

He told me to use it like normal and, if any problems develop, call him and he'll come back. I really hope so, too.
It will make me worry for a while about us getting left stranded somewhere, though.

@DaddyEvil If it's a short draining the battery you should know when you try to use it again.

Wow, that's amazing that you have a mechanic who would come over to your house, not to mention fixing the car and charging naught for it. What a nice person!

He is really nice and I was happy he came to check and fix the car. He checked the charging system while he was here and verified it was working fine.

Yes, he is. Sometimes he's a little too passionate about the cars he works on.
Thanks.

We've been wanting to go get some pizza and we can tomorrow since we don't have to stay home waiting on the workmen. We'll also buy some groceries tomorrow, too.

Yes, it is... I didn't like him the first time I had to call them for help. He went off on a rant because I didn't check the oil in a car that hadn't been used in six months. Instead of getting in an argument with him, I explained to the secretary that I didn't bother checking oil when I couldn't start the car. He didn't apologize but he has been really nice since then and asks what has been happening since he last worked on it. I explain and then he goes from there.

I'm sure you can't... You have taxis, buses and jeepneys to get you around where you need to go. We don't have any of those where I live.

Happy that it is fixed. It was definitely the defective battery. I hope that it didn't cost much. He does sound like a nice man.

The battery was only six months old so is free under the warranty the battery comes with.
Thanks... I'm happy with him.

@much2say At least we had the money to get it fixed... I got pulled over the other day... Apparently my tags are expired, so I need to get them renewed. The cop just gave me a verbal warning. Now, if my eyes would open up so I can get the inspection and tags renewed.

How sweet! It's great to use the same person, because you build a relationship. Yesterday I had my oil change and maintenance/inspection done, and the technician gave me a USB-C adapter. Those things are $10-$15. It didn't even have "Honda" written on it!

That's what we paid at Christmas for the new battery that just kicked the bucket. I'm glad we got a warranty on it.
It's not often you get a good mechanic.

@Dreamerby Exactly! Most of the good ones are hiding in small mom and pop garages. The mechanics in bigger places often aren't allowed to do what they want in regards to customer service. The large garages may tell their mechanics that they're "too busy" to give good service. (That's the same as it was at Walmart the longer I worked there. The lower level bosses started telling me that I was taking too long helping a customer. I had to tell the customers to complain about the low level boss trying to force me to hurry them out of the store by calling the corporate office and reporting the boss... Then I started getting in trouble when customers complained with the low level boss' name.
