The noise is ridiculous here.

People around here drive to Indiana (not far) and buy illegal fireworks, and drag them back here. We've had booms every night for at least two weeks, often until 2 or 3 in the morning. The last two days have been beyond terrible. Incredibly LOUD, obnoxious booms, usually with no beautiful display, just the booms. Police are racing around, trying to stop these, but if they do not see who lit the fireworks, and if no one tells who did it, they cannot arrest anyone...it's stupid.
Nerves are frazzled all over town. People are upset as their animals are upset. All of this racket just isn't fun. I'm all for a fireworks display by the city, which we had, but enough is enough. They will no doubt go to at least 3-4AM.
If you live in the US, do you have to put up with this nonsense?

I don't know that they are bad people, but they are very inconsiderate, and extremely loud!

It's 11:03 PM here, and it's just as loud now as it's been all week. If you need some noise, come on over!

This has been escalating and has gone on for several weeks. We are all worn out here.

@MarieCoyle - I thought Italians would have not respected, but I was surprised to see that they did, well except a few regions in the south of Italy.

Government here? I wish. But who knows what to expect from any form of government.

I wish they would just not import these anymore, or make them for individual sales.

We can't figure that out, either. An excuse to be rowdy and make a lot of noise?

We have booms late into the night. I am wondering if I am needing to sleep the day away because of the evening disturbances.

I managed a little nap today, it was a sleepless night for sure. I heard a few booms awhile ago...it's over, but yet they still evidently have fireworks to set off!

They used to do that here too. It didn't sound like they did this year. Very quiet. It used to get pretty noisy but not the last couple of years.

I am fine with one fireworks show, done by professional people who know what they are doing. But these endless days of constant booming noise is terrible.

I ran my two fans and the house was closed up and we had the AC on. And we could still hear the constant bombardment of fireworks.
Today, we have heard some more big booms, thankfully not as many.

@MarieCoyle Not to mention the people who have autism and other sensory sensitivities. Leave the fireworks to the government.
I think they are banned here for private citizens because people throw them in the ocean which is kind of the worst, it has a negative impact on marine life.

Someone told me that put up firework is legal for the American civilians as it is their right to do so. I asked if there would be a fire hazard when you released the firework near the park. The person told me that it is as safe as the organisations' firework display.

No fireworks are 100% safe. There are fires and accidents every year.

It is way out of hand, and the laws for them need to be changed.

We don't, but I have heard of people doing this here in NC. I know my boyfriend had talked my mother and her boyfriend (at the time) to do this many years ago. I tried to talk them out of it, but they wouldn't listen to me. Someone called the police and the police showed up.

We are all so totally tired of fireworks here.
When you think about it, yes, people spend money on entertainment, that's fine. But it's such a short instant in time, one shot, seconds, and the show is over. It isn't really a time to savor with family or friends. Spending hundreds of dollars on fireworks is not something I would ever do, even if I had money to throw around.

My next door neighbor set off a gzillion fireworks between 9-11. It must have cost him hundreds of dollars. The big ones shook the house.

Or they spend what they have on the fireworks and then don't have money for the rest of the month....

I think that it's a huge waste of money...but it's not my money of course. And they are not pleasant to have to deal with in all hours of the day and night.

This has been going on for several weeks here. It's way past the ridiculous stage! After I got to sleep at last, there were some really loud booms that shook the house, about 5 AM. I really hope these idiots are completely out of fireworks, but time will tell. I've heard a few mild ones this morning, luckily not the earth shaking booms, but still...

It’s been bad in the past but this was the woest I can remember. It would be lovely to see the fireworks clearly and then—they are all done!

Your description calling them scud missles is spot on. It sounds like what I imagine a war zone would sound like.
