You Mean Dirt Forms There?

I am VERY embarrassed to say, that it was a very long time (won't say exactly how long), until a couple of weeks ago, that my husband and I did a thing. What is the thing that we did? We pulled the refrigerator out and cleaned the dust and dirt under it! I have never seen such dirt and grime! Question for you MyLot friends: How often do you clean under your refrigerator?

When I have to clean the circulation fan. Dust can build up under the fridge and get so bad, that the fan impeller slows or stops causing the temperature in the refrigerator to drop below safe levels. It would be a good idea to pull the fridge out once a year to vacuum the floor, the back wall, the coils and the vents. But I end up doing it only after I've noticed an issue. Did you notice a temperature change or did you just pull it out specifically to clean?

We just pulled it out to clean. There was no temperature change.

I can't move our fridge. When we moved into this rental house, the landlady sent over a big guy to move the fridge to empty the water pan underneath it. He scratched the new wood flooring across the kitchen doing it. I took pictures and sent them to the landlady. I'm not being blamed for something her hired help did. I don't like the thought of not being able to clean under it but I'm not strong enough to move it. The landlady can clean under there when we move out.

@DaddyEvil I am not able to move it myself. Thank goodness, my husband was able to help me.

They make an attachment for your vacuum cleaner that converts to a single tube that is flexible and small enough to insert under and alongside of refrigerators and ovens. You just slowly push the tube in, wiggling it slightly as you go. It may pick up larger things but you just pull the tube back out and clear it. It won't pick up coins or any item larger than the tube. It can be used to remove dirt and dust without moving the appliance.

@LeaPea2417 Even with Pretty's help we couldn't move it... If the fridge starts having a problem, it belongs to the landlady and I will call and complain. She can send the handyman back and he can take care of it.

I don’t. I live in an apartment, and I am scared what I would find from the multitude of people who lived here before me. It’s best for my mental health not to know.

Once a year, when we rearrange things, if not, perhaps not in a year or two?

We cannot move the refrigerator here, it's integral part of the kitchen. I wonder what's going to happen if it breaks.

We usually do it every couple of months as dust & dirt tend to accumulate underneath the pesky things! It is quite tedious as fridges are quite large & heavy.

Not very often it has to be said. I try to clean as far as I can reach when I notice it! Under our freezer is easier because it's on rollers so I can roll it forward to get behind and underneath.

I haven't lately. But last year, I think, I moved it to dust behind it. I need to do that again sometime.

I haven't cleaned under ours since we've been here. At least I don't think I have. What I can't see doesn't worry me too much!

My washing machine is in a real tight space. It is nearly impossible to move. I hate to think how much dust is under it. I try not to think about it

Yes. Dust and dirt very easily gets accumulated where it's difficult to clean. We have kept a little gap between our fridge and the wall. So it's comparatively easier to clean in smaller gaps.

Cleaning under the fridge is one of those chores that often gets overlooked but makes such a difference once it's done. I only get around to cleaning under mine maybe once a year.
