I am off to get some groceries. Let's see. Wine. Canned beets. Wait. I already have an extra can of those.Milk. Marie's blue cheese dressing. Wine. A big (shiitake) mushroom. A lime for my poor man's Gatorade. Sharp cheddar cheese. Maybe some hearts of palm. No bacon. Too expensive right now. And I'm tired of eggs and bacon. Aha! Maybe a small steak. And some of those freeze dried mashed potatoes. Wine. Maybe an odd soup, like clam chowder. Ice cream. Wine.
Do you have certain staples in your diet?

Yeah.... I buy my groceries and cosmetics and medicines on the same day each month around 25th. Yes, standard things are rice, lentils, oil, pickles, tea, coffee, ginger garlic paste, samolina, wheat flower..etc. Once a month only. The guy sends the stuff home that way. LOL

Sounds like some good stuff. We get Powerade here when we are in the mood. It's cheaper. I shop at the first of the month and again in the middle. It works better for us.

Yup. I buy basically the same things each week. I usually add something as a treat. This weekit was chocolate frozen yogurt. I'm going to see if my body will tolerate the dairy.

A certain type of whole wheat bread, extra sharp cheddar cheese, coffee, fresh fruits and veggies, especially bananas. Cat food and treats, of course.

Yes, there are some things we always buy every couple of weeks... We walk down the aisles in Walmart and each add different stuff to our cart as we go. (No bacon because Pretty doesn't know how to cook it and I refuse to cook it.) A large tube (5 lbs) of hamburger 80/20 and a large tube (2 lbs) of premium sausage that I mix together and separate into 7 Ziploc baggies for the freezer every two weeks. Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Veggies (we each choose our own favorites). Fruit (we each choose our own). Pasta, eggs if we need them and Almond milk.
We bought a family pack of thick steaks a month ago and I've cooked two of them since then. The rest are in the freezer waiting their turn for our dinner table. We bought a marinated pork loin a couple of weeks ago and I baked it with spices, potatoes and onions. I just ate the last of it for breakfast this morning.

We do a lot of cooking from scratch as well as baking, unless it's really hot outside. The list of staples to keep is a bit lengthy but necessary to save money and eat well on a budget. The two hardest things to manage right now cost-wise are meats and produce, both are way up in price.
