Convenience foods

I keep tasty microwaveable foods on hand for when it is too hot to cook.
Although I made some sauteed veggies this morning while getting ready for church I did not want to actually cook lunch.
We ran to the store while in Newton, after church. I needed for sure bread, bananas and milk. I bought other things, ended up spending $72.
While looking around I spotted something interesting for us to have. They are called pupusas. It is a dish from El Salvador.
This is a stuffed corn meal cake, more or less. These came stuffed with mozzarella and beef birria. It looks really similar to an English muffin, if I am honest.
They were very good, so this is another convenience food I will have on hand. I keep burritos and taquitos and a few other things for quick tasty meals.
Do you have any other convenience foods to suggest? Have you ever had a pupusa?

I did explain in the post that it is a corn meal cake and it is filled with different things. What I bought was filled with mozzarella cheese and beef birria.

I’m never above throwing some cheese on a tortilla or a piece of bread, sticking it in the microwave for a few seconds, then eating it with soup.

When Katy my great niece lived with me her favorite snack after school was a spoonful of refied beans and a cheese stick rolled in a tortilla in the microwave. Ooey, gooey and yummy.

We have eaten less this summer, that is for sure. I would like to do sandwiches more often. I keep fresh fruit around.

We do the same. Stouffer's made some good meals. Meatloaf, stuffed peppers, etc. Some are hard to find. What is a pupusa? I used to try to make double batches of stuff too and put one in the freezer with a date on it.

I like Stouffers. My sister liked the two pack of stuffed bell peppers. They always change things, though, so you may not be able to find them now. Pupusa is a corn meal cake stuffed with meat and cheese.

It was very good, nicely spiced. Bob would have liked them for our evening meal as well.

I love corny stuff; and they sound very good. I've never had a pupusa. I bought a whole bunch of egg rolls for my husband. Now that he's gone, I have a lot of them to eat up. You might keep some of those in the freezer.

I do have a box of pork egg rolls in the freezer. They would go well with the veggies I made Sunday morning.

We normally have taquitos, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, bags of steamed veggies and either chicken nuggets or chicken fries in the freezer. Lately Pretty has been buying breaded chicken patties to make chicken sandwiches with. (Of course, chicken nuggets, chicken fries and chicken patties need to be heated in the oven to taste right but they're worth the trouble, in my opinion.)
Don't forget different types of Hot Pockets, too. We don't buy those often but they're a handy and quick microwaveable meal when you don't feel like cooking.

My great niece lived with me and a cheese stick and refried beans in a tortilla was a good after school snack. She hated tomatoes.
