Ok, first off, if you're bug squeamish then you might want to move on.
Living in the desert has it's peculiarities and one of them are the types of insects or bugs we get but this kinda bug I ain't seen before.
So, does anyone here know what this kritter is?

Not the exact name, no. I hope you figure it out. In one pic it looks like a grasshopper - type and in another he looks like a beetle-type. Weird.

Most bugs are fairly ugly but I usually just leave em alone ..... now common flies or mosquitos I try to squash
