So, the new plan.

Wow, I’ve talked about myself a lot the last few days. I’m sorry! So, after almost 48 hours to process everything, and a very quick acting sister, we already have a new cruise booked for next year. It doesn’t make the fact that we aren’t boarding today better, and of course, one year is a long time for people’s health to go up and down, but we’ll just think positively. We stuck with Canada (my sister and my preference) because despite my assurances I’ll be happy going anywhere, no one thinks I can do hot weather. But mostly, my sister was devastated Royal Caribbean was no longer going to Prince Edward Island. However, the Carnival cruise line is. This time though, we board in Norfolk, Virginia, while last time it was Boston. It is MUCH easier to drive to Virginia. Last cruise stops were Maine, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. THIS time it is TWO stops in Nova Scotia, and one stop in Prince Edward Island. Another positive is this cruise is one day longer. Plus, my sister and I have Disney coming up. So I’m sure that will perk me up. I just wish the kids were going too. Anyway, this picture is of Hudson (wearing his hearing aid), and my stepmom on our way to Dallas.

You can surely talk about yourself as you have, those of us that befriend you want to hear about you. I still feel sick for you and your family for this cancellation, as it is much more than just a cancellation in my eyes. It is such a great loss. I believe that you are wise to act so quickly and book another trip for next year. It almost sounds like this one wasn't meant to be and that the next one will be beyond belief.

I think so too, Julia. God had something better in store. And, perhaps next year, I’ll be a lot healthier.

If anyone worries about talking with/about you, they can just ignore your discussions... Easy Peasy. I hope everything works out this next year for the cruise. It really sounds like fun and I'm sure I'd love going, too. I would have made the drive to Boston instead of flying... But that's just me. I don't like flying.

My sister pushed for the drive to Boston, and pushed hard. But with my back, and Diana’s, my dad insisted we couldn’t do it. And I’ll tell you, DE, the car ride to Dallas was awful. HOWEVER, I think that was strictly about my position in the van. If I’m in the front with more leg room (I’m so tall!), I might make it easier. I just didn’t want to make a big deal about it this time. My sister was talking to my dad, who was driving, and I didn’t want to make my sister move since she doesn’t see my dad often.

@AmbiePam That would make a difference... And yes, more leg room is always preferable. I don't have back problems but would have fallen asleep for most of the ride. (I don't trust other people driving so sleep as much as possible so I don't see how badly they drive.) It's too bad they won't give you better pain meds for drives like that.

@DaddyEvil Oddly, they went up on my pain meds, but the ones that were supposed to be stronger, did not work. So, I went back to the “lesser” pain meds. Because of course my body wouldn’t cooperate! Lol

A year is a good time for health to improve, as well.

Hopefully the disappointment will fade soon and you can look forward to the new cruise which does seem like it will suit you better.

Your sister is a big go-getter! And it's good that you are looking at the positives with this. I do know how terribly disappointing it all is, but I am glad she went ahead and planned the new trip. And OH, am I ever glad there was travel insurance!! A real blessing and good thinking!! Hudson and Diana look so happy in the picture.

@AmbiePam Not so sure about that, as once in a while I stumble on this journey. But I will admit in being a chief officer in the ''never, ever give up, ever!'' club!

I'm so happy that you booked another cruise even if it's still a year away. Time is going by so fast it will be here in no time. I know I said it before but my daughter loved that cruise so I know you're going to have a really good time. Love the picture! I have to say that your family have the biggest and best smiles. It's hard not to smile back when looking at the picture.
