I needed black printer ink, and we deliberately went to Walmart after church to get that and some things for the cats. I had three items in my cart and went to the electronics department to get the ink. I know it is in a locked case. Before I bothered anyone, I made sure they had it on hand, the proceeded to stand in line at the desk, behind someone who had been there a bit. There was one employee working. He was busy selling a phone, I think. When he finished, he did not even make eye contact, or apologize for the wait, or anything. Instead he called out to a random guy walking past, asking him if he needed anything out of the case, etc. I was tired, I had a short night last night, then after church I had stood around and visited a while. We dropped stuff at Goodwill before going to Walmart. I had stood there longer than it took me to shop for my other items. I said to the other lady "I will just get it from Amazon." Amazon actually sells a remanufactured version of the ink cartridge I needed, and I bought a 2 pack of the desired one for two dollars less than a single from Walmart. It will be here tomorrow. Black ink. My colored is full. I should have done this days ago.

I'm at the point I call people out. I don't yell, but will ask loudly what is the issue.

I think one of THE most irritating things about customer service these days is that somewhere along the line people in the service sector have become prone to believe the customer is an inconvenience, rather than the purpose their job exists at all.

@porwest I agree. It's like they were forced to take the job so they won't make the effort.

@noni1959 For many, it's not so much that they were forced to take these kinds of jobs. They consider these jobs careers, and maybe that's part of the problem. I mean, they CAN be careers if people work hard and work their way up the ladder. But so many do not. They just stay at the bottom going from store to store to store to store.

I think what has happened in society is that lousy customer service is SO commonplace, it's not a question of finding a place with better customer service, it's HOPING to find a place that has a lower degree of BAD CUSTOMER service. One day someone is going to come along and provide not only the best customer service there is, but will massively compensate their employees for providing it, and whoever that guy is will be our first trillionaire—unless Elon Musk gets there first. lol

Walmart is definitely not the store today that Sam Walton created. Today, even their “made in the USA” labels are made in China. I go there for things that they carry that other stores don’t (like an antacid), but I don’t think saving a dollar or two is what you have to go through to shop there, such as clerks ignoring you or the people doing shopping for the online orders acting like they want to deliberately want to mow you down.

Yeah I wanted to buy a new remote for my Roku many months ago and it took a while for my mother to get someone to open up the case.

That was extremely rude, I would have done the same, they would have not got my money. Send an email to the manager, they must know, so they will stop complaining when they lose clients.

I hope the printer will accept the remanufactured ink cartridge. Some printers won't use those. I would have started fussing if a Walmart associate did that to me. If the guy wasn't in line, then the associate should have taken the next person in line before talking to someone who wasn't in line.

What a rude guy. I know I sometimes think I've become invisible. It's not a nice feeling.

I would have had words with that employee. There's no excuse for that.

I have said this very thing a long time about those locked cases. People will pay a premium to avoid the hassle of having to get someone to open the case. I know WHY they do it. They want to reduce theft. But I do wonder what is more probable... Someone will steal the locked up thing or just buy the locked up thing somewhere that is easier to get it. I think it's PROBABLY the latter, so really, the locked cases do more harm than good. In my opinion, of course. I don't have any data to back that up. But it stands to reason in any event.

I can still faintly remember when customer service was actually a thing I don't do Amazon, but I can say they do know business and how to get people to buy from them. Situations just like this.
