How much makeup do you wear?

Not to exclude a gender, but how much makeup do you wear? I wear foundation, eyeliner, and lip gloss. If I’m just going to the store, I don’t bother with makeup. It takes me over a year to go through a small bottle of foundation. I get a lot of lip glosses free too so I never have to spend money on that. What about you?

I don’t wear as much as I once did. I mostly wear lip gloss or very light lipstick. I truly can’t remember the last time that I wore makeup.

That’s good. Our skin does better without it anyway.

I rarely wear makeup anymore; occassionally I'll slap on some lipstick, but I don't go anywhere anymore where I need to impress anybody.

Ha ha!! LOL. This is how I feel. I'm really over trying to impress people.

None. No use in putting lipstick on a pig. Actually, I never got in the habit because of my allergies when I was a kid. They didn’t have hypoallergenic products then, and when they did have them they were expensive.

My oldest niece is having that problem. And you and a pig have no looks in common.

I never wore much make-up in general (just a little when I was working) but now I don't wear any make-up.

Do you mean every day? Generally I don't wear any, unless I need a dab of concealer. If I feel I need a bit of a lift then these days I go first for the eyebrow pencil; my eyebrows have got lighter especially at the ends so some days I just look like a surprised ant and I don't like that. If I need to look more presentable for work or a social event then I use translucent powder, blusher, lipstick and (if I have time to apply it properly without poking myself in the eye) eye liner and sometimes a little mascara.

A surprised ant is the best description of anything I have heard in ages. I can picture exactly what you are talking about.

Interesting. When I do wear it, I have a whole routine that includes . . . ready . . . primer, foundation concealer, powdered blush, eye liner, lip liner, mascara, eyebrow pencil and lipstick. People always respond like I look so much better. But for me, it's either do all this or do nothing. I can't get away with just this or that because it take the whole routine to make it matter.

I wear less than in the past. I wear very little foundation, no more eyeliner, but eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss.

I really thought about telling you I wear makeup all the time but... you might not believe me and Pretty doesn't have any I can "borrow".

I end up wearing it about once a week. I figure I shouldn’t scare people at church when I go.

When the weather is hot I do not even wear it to church, except maybe some lip stain and powdered blush. Instead of foundation I use BB cream which seems to heal up some of the issues my face gets.

I want to try some lip stain instead of lipstick. I think it looks more natural.

I tend to wear a bit of Sure unscented, and perhaps one spray of Bvlgari. I have some Patchouli here, but that can be a bit overwhelming if you overdo it.

I bet Bvlgari smells nice! You're right with scents, the trick is not overdoing it.

I wear foundation and lipstick if I go out. My skin looks quite red sometimes and I don't like it.

This is a great question! Since I turned around 60, I'm 64 now, my makeup wearing has gone way down. I do wear it when I need to show up to something important. But like today, I ran errands and didn't wear it. I never would have done this even 10 years ago.

It's interesting that so many people say they used to wear more but now don't bother. So it seems a lot of people wore make-up when they were young and fresh-faced and didn't really need any.

The irony! I think it's partly because we are more self accepting as we age. We feel comfortable in our own skin, stop trying to be perfect. What do you think?
