Terminix showed up yesterday afternoon and found 7 or 8 dead mice in the basement. Gross. He, too, mentioned that they are probably coming in through the back door since there is weather stripping missing on that door. He suggested getting some steel wool and shoving it into the cracks. I went on the Walmart website; and there are rolls of steel wool for that exact purpose! He also put traps up in the attic so we can see if there is any current activity up there. There is evidence of past activity. So far, with the exception of seeing that one mouse upstairs one night, the mice appear to be staying in the basement which is good. Cousin #2 refreshed the oils on the cotton balls Monday in the pantry to keep the mice out of there. Oh! And he sprayed for spiders which the mice feed on. Breakfast - Oatmeal bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, roll Dessert/Snack - Nature's Bakery Apple Cinnamon Fig Bar, unsalted nuts, 70% dark chocolate Dinner - Turkey/vegan cheese sandwich, veggie straws, mixed berries What did you eat yesterday? Pretty had a doctor appointment in Springfield yesterday that took most of the day. When we were done with that, we stopped at the Walmart I used to work at and picked up our new glasses and then bought my new phone. (It was listed for $300 but there was a sale for it online so we paid $165 plus tax. ) I just finished setting it up... It told me everything had transferred successfully so I factory reset my old phone and gave it to Pretty. *sigh* The new phone lied... It didn't transfer all my contacts over from the old phone. I'll have to wait until people text or call me to get their phone numbers back into my contact list again. I made Cheddar cheese soup with broccoli and ground beef yesterday and Pretty cooked some Korean beef for dinner last night.

@LindaOHio I should have known better than to trust it. If I can find one of my old phones, I've saved contact info on it. But it doesn't have anything from the last three years saved to it. I didn't think I'd need it.

I love broccoli and cheddar cheese soup. Did you add the ground beef to it? I never would have thought to do that @DaddyEvil

Sorry about the phone! That's a bummer.

I didn’t go out yesterday, so I can’t say “the usual.” I had beef stew over rice for lunch, and grilled cheese with the rest of the rice for dinner. Applesauce, yogurt, fiber, lots of nasal spray and Altoids.

@FourWalls Are you having Chuy's withdrawal? I hope you are starting to feel better. Even with my allergy meds, I think my eyes have been crying off and on for days now. That generally stops for me whenever we get a cold spell for a few days, not just the off and on stuff...so I am honestly looking forward to the first cold spell!

@MarieCoyle — I have an “easy remedy,” which is Altoids. However, they seriously mess with my reflux and stomach issues, but at this point I’ll take GERD over the feeling of Phil Collins and Keith Moon having a drum-off inside my sinus cavity. I was there today, no worry.

@FourWalls A few years ago I was caught in what we term here as an Illinois crop dust storm. I could hardly get my breath, my head pain was excruciating, and I had to go to the ER. They gave me some type of butt-kicking allergy med via IV and it was gone so quickly, I was simply amazed. Whatever it was, the relief was so fast. Allergies can really made us miserable, and I am sorry you have to go through this. Glad you made it to Chuy's. If you stayed away too long, they would probably send a posse to see if you were OK!!

@LindaOHio Not really, Linda, and it’s annoying. Today is a doctor appointment, and that’s about it. I’m pretty sure I’m boring.

Terminix should have placed the steel wool, you paid them to keep the mice out. We had penne arrabbiata for lunch and chili con carne for dinner.

Well, yes, steel wool is a good thing, mice hate it. But I do have to ask, will the Terminex dude put it in place, or do you have to pay someone to do it? If it's the latter, here's a test you can try....remember cousin #3's husband offered to help you if you needed it? Ask him...and see what happens. I hate it that they are not helping you. You had berries...I love them! And they are so, so expensive here. Yum.

You'll beat these little critters yet. My parents were always able to keep any mice that managed to make their way into the house to the basement.

I'm glad you've found some cheaper ways to get the mouse population down. I ate sushi for dinner last night. Pretty tasty.

It's a good thing he mentioned the back door and you can get some steel wool and close up that space. It's a nasty, miserable, cold rainy day here so nothing much going on. I'm in the middle of a good book so I'll probably read this afternoon. Making chili for our dinner tonight

We never used steel wool. Instead, we used copper wool. Lasts longer and much more effective. And you don't need any special kind. Any copper wool will work. As for dinner, it was baked barbecue chicken thighs with a side salad and stuffing. Yummy, yummy in my tummy. Gosh, did I actually just say that?

Sorry to hear about the mice...that's no fun. But sounds like a productive time...
