For the third consecutive month I get to blame the same myLotter for the countdown idea. Too bad she’s not getting extra for her hard work of inspiring me.
For November, we turn to songs you can’t forget the words to….because there aren’t any! Yes, to the eternal dismay of @porwest its instrumental time.
Did you know that there have only been 25 instrumental songs to hit #1 on the Billboard pop chart? Today’s teaser is not one of them. This iconic movie theme only peaked at #2 in 1968.
So write your own lyrics this month! And thanks yet again for the idea, @rebelann !

I have watched both Canada and America and the music is amazing from one inning to another. Its Not NFL or NBA, Just straight neat music.

Now that’s one I haven’t heard in a very long time!! But yes, it was very popular.
I enjoy so many of these music memories.

I know, they use parts of this in a lot of different locations, so that it’s all one song is pretty interesting for those who’ve never heard it all together.

I would imagine The Pink Panther theme makes that countdown.

I understand. Those spaghetti westerns have less plot than the American ones. But this song is amazing. Ever had one of those movies where you with the movie lived up to the theme music?

There are movies I re-watched just because of their music. Sergio Leone movies were too much full of violence.

this song Rock rock rock, sounds funny, and happy, I don't understand most of the words, but, it feels like the singer tells some funny moments he had with people, and eventually, this song solves the problems. rock rock rock :-)
Many times I think the music alone can tell the message better than the words.
Can't think of an instrumental songs right now :-/

@FourWalls thanks for the clarification. It blurs the line between instrumental and singing. I guess it is all good as I enjoy botg. I'm going to some folk dance evening. They play line dances, circle dances and more, maybe some instrumentals will come up.

They use the “vocals” not to say any words but to add to the dynamics. It’s actually quite common in instrumentals.

The theme song from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" gets a lot of airplay in entertainment shows related to Westerns.

It does, and it also has snippets of the song played in a lot of places not related to Westerns. That's a good song for you.

@NJChicaa -- I think you're going to be disappointed. You know I never go where the "normal" people go in a countdown.

My lyrics for this one are "doodle-oodle-oo, waw WAW waw".
I bet "Chariots of Fire" is the biggest instrumental hit of all time. But when I was a kid, I remember that "Music Box Dancer" was very popular on the radio, and I actually learned to play that one on the piano.

The biggest hit in terms of chart success was “Theme From A Summer Place” by Percy Faith. It was #1 for nine weeks and the #1 pop song of the year 1960
Spoiler Alert: it’s nowhere to be found on my list.

I had to check to see if it even charted in America. It made the "easy listening" top 30.

I wish I could think of more ideas but I doubt you'd want to do a month on those heavy metal bands of the late 60s & 70s that I used to love to listen to like Grand Funk Railroad or Deep Purple. Neither had enough under their belts to give you 30 days of good music.
It's me that thanks you, you've made my month and now you're going to do it again.

There are a ton of theme songs that I love, some instrumental. The Bond themes are one and then a lot of the old musicals like Flower Drum Song, etc. Today's theme is a good one.
