Happy Veterans Day! A salute to all of those who put on the uniform (except the guy in the Village People, of course
). There are some songs, when you mention “instrumentals,” that come to mind immediately. I think this is one of them. Let’s find out if I’m right with today’s song.
The Pink Panther Theme - Henry Mancini
There are theme songs, and then there’s this. This is such an iconic song that it’s hard to remember that it began life as a movie theme.
In terms of chart success, this wasn’t Henry Mancini’s biggest success. That went to “Love Theme From Romeo and Juliet,” which was #1 for two weeks. Sure, it topped the chart, but can you hum it the way you can this one?
This song won three Grammy Awards…and generations of fans.

@FourWalls You're welcome.
I KNOW! It's a miracle you posted something I remember from childhood and lately. I remember trying to do the pink panther walk when I was a kid, too! Did you ever do that?

@DaddyEvil — oh, sure. Did Snagglepuss’ “exit, stage left” all the time, too.

Oh, Henry. Great movie theme. One of the greatest. Cool. They sure had that going for them in the 60s.

Thank you.
Salute to all of the men and women who served your nation as well.
It seems like it’s been around forever, but it only dates to 1963.

My sister loved this. She called it the ''sneaky music''' and we enjoyed this music together.

It does have an air of mystery, I guess that juxtaposes how bumbling and inept Inspector Clouseau was.

Very true. I actually heard that music played once when I went to a haunted house with the kids!

Coincidentally, only today, I mentioned “The Pink Panther” to @LindaOH
Great song, and the movies were brilliant, with the inimitable Peter Sellars. I also enjoyed watching the cartoon version.
