Thanksgiving Canceled

Well, Thanksgiving is not going to look like I thought. I got a text from my sister this morning saying 3 of the 5 of them have a cold, and they aren’t coming Friday (our Thanksgiving is always on a Friday because they go to my BIL’s mom on the actual day & my dad goes to his wife’s family Thanksgiving).
Now, you may point out I just spent eight days with them, and I did. But we just don’t see them often, and I wanted my dad to get to spend time with them too.
However, like I said, I did get 8 days with them, and I’m thankful for that. I’m also thankful when I talked to my dad this morning, he said us three (me, my dad, and his wife) could still have a Thanksgiving meal Friday like we planned. I was really looking forward to dishes that don’t get made unless it’s this time of year. I’ll still make sausage balls, and I’ll still get deviled eggs (she makes them for her family and then holds some back for us). It’s going to be good, and I’ll actually have my dad pinned down for a few hours in one place since he’s always so busy.
Does anyone have “day after” Thanksgiving plans?

Day after Thanksgiving is spent much like Thanksgiving day is here. We snack on turkey and fixings and sleep all day. (That's also how we spend Christmas.
)
I'm glad you'll get to spend time with your dad and step-mom, at least.

@AmbiePam I liked the holidays a lot better when friends and family were here to spend it with us. *shrug*

@DaddyEvil I thought maybe when you mentioned Uncle Steve taking Pretty to the grocery store maybe he’d make an appearance.

Shame about the colds but sis and fam probably need a break anyway. Nice you can celebrate anyway. Day after for me will be socializing in the AM and driving back.

Hopefully that will all work out well, but sorry some are sick. Robert and Nathan are coming tomorrow for dinner instead of Thursday. A smaller meal, just the four of us. Tammy lives too far and she's just getting better from the flu.

@AmbiePam Nathan's making the dressing and deviled eggs, so that's a big help.

I hope they all get better from their colds soon. Yah, vacation is one thing, holiday ritual is another . . . time spent a bit differently but any moment we can get with family is precious. I'm glad Thanksgiving is still on . . . enjoy time with your dad and his wife - and of course the good eats!
Things have been so hectic here for us all, so lately we've been playing it by ear when it comes to "plans". Maybe we'll do something on Friday - maybe we won't
. If anything, I know we'll have tons of food leftover - so I won't have to cook

My husband works on Black Friday. He works in retail, so everyone who works there is expected to be at work unless that worker has a true emergency.

No day after plans. Hopefully, we can stay home that day. We are supposed to get snow on Saturday and Sunday, and parts of my area will get some ice Saturday, so Friday I will be sure we do not need to pick up meds, etc. and can stay at home if driving is slick and crazy.
I am glad you will still get to have a Thanksgiving of sorts with your Dad and stepmother. And some good food! Make sure you pack home any leftovers for the next day!
